Human bocavirus, which was firstly discovered in 2005, is a new human parvovirus associated with lower respiratory tract infection in children. In this study, a human bocavirus, named WLL-1 isolate, was identified in Wenlin County, Zhejiang Province. The genome of bocavirus WLL-1 has been sequenced and analyzed. Phylogenetic analyses showed that WLL-1 shares 99% homology with other bocaviruses recently reported, but also has some special variations.

Human respiratory and enteric viruses are responsible for substantial morbidity and mortality worldwide. Wastewater-based epidemiology utilizing next-generation sequencing serves as an effective tool for monitoring viral circulation dynamics at the community level. However, these complex environmental samples are often laden with other microorganisms and host genomic material, which can hinder the sensitivity of viral detection.

Effective control of animal infectious diseases is crucial for maintaining robust livestock production systems worldwide. Porcine meat constitutes approximately 35-40% of global meat production with the largest producers being China and the European Union (EU). Emerging viral pathogens in swine, like porcine bocavirus (PBoV), have not garnered significant attention, leaving their pathogenic characteristics largely unexplored.

Human bocavirus-1 (HBoV-1) has been associated with respiratory infections in both children and adults, often presenting symptoms similar to those of influenza. Understanding the prevalence and molecular characteristics of HBoV-1 in individuals with influenza-like illness (ILI) is essential for enhancing the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory infections in Kunming, Southwest China. Between December 2017 and December 2023, demographic and clinical data, along with respiratory tract specimens from individuals aged 0 to 97 years with ILI, were collected at three sentinel hospitals in Kunming.

In this study, a multiplex PCR method was developed for the detection of four diarrhea-associated viruses of canines, including canine bocavirus (CBoV), canine circovirus (CCV), torque teno canis virus (TTCV), and canine kobuvirus (CKV). Four pairs of compatible primers, one specific for each virus, were designed based on conserved sequences. After optimization of parameters such as primer concentration and annealing temperature in single and multiple amplifications, four specific fragments were amplified simultaneously with high sensitivity and specificity in one PCR reaction.
