Published: November 2007

Configurational assignment of seven synthesized N-arylsulfonylimines of alpha-polychloroaldehydes has been carried out by means of experimental measurements and high-level ab initio calculations of their (13)C--(13)C, (13)C--(1)H and (15)N--(1)H spin-spin coupling constants. The title compounds were shown to exist in solution solely in the form of E isomers, in line with thermodynamic reasoning.

Tracking atomic structural evolution along chemical transformation pathways is essential for optimizing chemical transitions and enhancing control. However, molecule-level knowledge of structural rearrangements during chemical processes remains a great challenge. Here, we couple infrared spectroscopy as a non-invasive method to probe molecular transformations, with a machine-learned protocol to immediately map the spectroscopic fingerprints to atomistic structures.

Genome mining of NBU2194 resulted in the identification of a family of 17-membered macrolides, neptunizhulides A-F. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic data analysis. Stereochemical assignments of the neptunizhulides were determined by -based configuration analysis, ROESY NMR, Mosher's ester derivatization, and bioinformatic predictions.

Chiral discrimination is an indispensable tool that has pivotal importance in the assignment of absolute configuration and determination of enantiomeric excess in chiral compounds. A series of enantiomerically pure -1,2-diaminocyclohexane (-DACH)-derived benzamides were first synthesized by simple chemical steps, and 14 variated derivatives have been assessed as NMR chiral solvating agents (CSAs) for discrimination of the signals of mandelic acid (MA) in H NMR analysis. The highly efficient chiral recognition of CSA on different substrates, including MAs, carboxylic acids, amino acid derivatives, and phosphoric acids (32 examples), was expanded via H, F, and P NMR spectroscopy.

Model P-chirogenic phosphonates derived from isopinocampheol, offering an excellent experimental system for studying chirality on the phosphorus chiral center, were studied using a set of chiroptical methods including ECD, VCD and ROA. Thanks to their rigidity, limiting the number of possible conformers, we successfully correlated the experimental UV-vis/ECD, IR/VCD and Raman/ROA results with DFT calculations. This allowed us to confidently assign the absolute configuration of our models, and our assignment is consistent with X-ray diffraction (XRD) data.

Academic burnout is a common phenomenon among Chinese college students, which can have a negative impact on students' academic performance and even the entire higher education industry. Existing literature has pointed out that the situation of academic burnout among Chinese college students is severe, and the prevalence of academic burnout is worrying. As previous studies on academic burnout among college students analyze the impact of a single factor on academic burnout, which is limited by the combined effect of multiple factors, this article uses FSQCA method to empirically explore how five antecedent conditions (academic stress, academic anxiety, lack of academic self-efficacy, Internet addiction, and loneliness) lead to this phenomenon from configuration perspective.
