Background: Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα) is a crucial physiologic regulator of immune responses, and several disorders have been associated with its dysregulation.

Objective: This study aimed to understand TNFα gene expression in adult patients with liver and pancreas disorders and examine the impact of TNFα-238 genotypes on this population.

Methods: At the Ibn Al-Baladi Hospital in Baghdad, blood samples were collected from forty patients who were diagnosed with beta thalassemia together with pancreatic disease, forty patients who were diagnosed with thalassemia together with liver disorder, and forty patients who were diagnosed with thalassemia without pancreas or liver disorder.

Background: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a complex, multifactorial disease that results from environmental factors such as parasite polymorphism, phlebotomine vectors, and host genetic factors. Some studies have identified specific genetic factors that may be associated with cutaneous leishmaniasis. The objective of this research was to resolve the association of 8 cytokine polymorphisms, including TNF-α -308 A/G (rs 1800629), TNF-α -238 A/G (rs 361525), TGF-β1 -509 T/C (rs 1800469), TGF-β1+ 915 G/C (rs 1800471), IFN-γ -874 T/A (rs 2430561), IFN-γ -179 G/A (rs 2069709), IL-10 -819 C/T (rs 1800871), and IL-10 -592 A/C (rs 1800872) with susceptibility to CL.

Background: Recurrent miscarriage (RM) is defined as the loss of two or more consecutive pregnancies. A functional SNP, -238G>A in the promoter region of TNF-α, affects the gene transcription activity with implications on human pregnancy. Previous limited studies, linking the TNF-α -238 G>A to the risk of recurrent miscarriage have been inconclusive.

February 2023

Department of Integration of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Tianjin First Central Hospital, the First Central Hospital Affiliated to Nankai University, Tianjin 300192, China.

To investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of Liangge Powder against sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI) . From April to December 2021, the key components of Liangge Powder and its targets against sepsis-induced ALI were analyzed by network pharmacology, and to enrich for relevant signaling pathways. A total of 90 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to sham-operated group, sepsis-induced ALI model group (model group), Liangge Powder low, medium and high dose group, ten rats in the sham-operated group and 20 rats in each of the remaining four groups.

Polymorphisms in some proinflammatory genes (TNFα and β, IL-1β, IL-6, ADAM17) in severe chronic venous disease.

J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol

March 2023

First Department of Dermatovenereology, St. Ann's Faculty Hospital and Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic.

Background: Chronic venous disease (CVD) is a common disorder of lower extremities.

Objectives: The study was scheduled to investigate the relationship between polymorphisms in major proinflammatory genes TNF α (-238 A/G; -308 A/G), TNF β (NcoI), IL-1β (+3953 T/C); IL-6 (-174 G/C; -596 G/C) and ADAM17 (3'TACE) and CVD risk. Genotype-phenotype study was calculated to test possible association between examined genotypes and phenotypes of CVD.
