Continuous and discontinuous perturbations.

Science

Published: February 1978

Perturbations of quantum systems ranging from oscillators to fields can be either continuous or discontinuous functions of the coupling. Even nonrenormalizable fields may now find a natural interpretation.

Research suggests that the quality of care provided by family members may be influenced by the quality of relationship they have with the person living with dementia. The study investigated this in the context of assisting with daily activities. The quality of the relationship was assessed using the conceptual framework of relationship continuity/discontinuity which focuses on whether the carer experiences their relationship as continuous or discontinuous with the pre-dementia relationship.

Background And Objective: In contrast to respiratory sound classification, respiratory phase and adventitious sound event detection provides more detailed and accurate respiratory information, which is clinically important for respiratory disorders. However, current respiratory sound event detection models mainly use convolutional neural networks to generate frame-level predictions. A significant drawback of the frame-based model lies in its pursuit of optimal frame-level predictions rather than the best event-level ones.

The heat-induced natural egg yolk is a discontinuous object formed by the accumulation of yolk spheres. However, the reason why yolk spheres form individual microgels rather than continuous gels has not been elucidated. This study investigated the different gelation behaviors in the yolk sphere exterior (EYSE) and the yolk sphere interior (EYSI) by using 4D-DIA proteomics, electron microscopy, and multispectral techniques.

Introduction: While the World Health Organization (WHO) advocates organizing maternity care and preventive child healthcare (PCHC) as people-centred, integrated healthcare services, globally these services are often established separately, causing discontinuity of care. Our aim is to synthesize the evidence concerning what impacts parents' experience of continuity of care, and how to promote it.

Methods: Qualitative systematic review.

Climate change is compelling species to seek refuge at higher elevations and latitudes. While researchers commonly study these migrations using discontinuous elevational transects, this methodology may introduce significant biases into our understanding of species movement. These potential biases could lead to flawed biodiversity conservation policies if left unexamined.
