Background: Fermentation of dietary fiber by the gut microbiota leads to the production of metabolites called short-chain fatty acids, which lower blood pressure and exert cardioprotective effects. Short-chain fatty acids activate host signaling responses via the functionally redundant receptors GPR41 and GPR43, which are highly expressed by immune cells. Whether and how these receptors protect against hypertension or mediate the cardioprotective effects of dietary fiber remains unknown.

Background: Primary cardiac lymphoma (PCL) is an exceedingly uncommon type of lymphoma that primarily affects the heart and/or pericardium, or manifests through cardiac symptoms due to myocardial infiltration. The infrequency of PCL, coupled with its non-specific clinical presentations, often complicates early diagnosis. This study aims to fill the existing gap in clinical knowledge regarding PCL by detailing a case of PCL and examining its clinical features, auxiliary examinations, treatment approaches, and prognostic outcomes, thereby facilitating early detection and enhancing patient care.

Background: Children with end-stage heart failure listed for cardiac transplantation may require mechanical ventilation and/or circulatory support whilst awaiting transplantation. A subgroup of these patients is unable to wean off mechanical ventilator support and undergo tracheostomy to enhance quality of life and allow de-escalation of intensive care. There is limited evidence of the use of tracheostomy associated with pediatric cardiac transplantation.

Background: In recent years, transcatheter implantation devices to restrict pulmonary arterial flow have emerged as a potential alternative to surgical pulmonary artery banding.
Case Presentation: A term male was diagnosed with critical aortic stenosis (AS) and severely reduced left ventricle (LV) systolic function. He underwent aortic balloon valvuloplasty on day 2 of life, resulting in some antegrade flow, but LV ejection fraction only improved to 15%.
