Hyperprolactinaemia due to macroprolactin (MPRL) can lead to misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. We studied the new Roche Elecsys Prolactin assay (PRL II) which has been developed to reduce reactivity with MPRL. We investigated the performance of the PRL II assay at six laboratory sites to determine precision and establish reference intervals for total immunoreactive PRL and for monomeric PRL determined by precipitation with polyethylene glycol (PEG). We compared the reactivities with macroprolactin of the PRL II, the PRL I and seven other PRL assays. The PRL II assay reacted less strongly than the PRL I assay and similarly to the ADVIA Centaur assay with macroprolactin. PEG precipitation can be used with the PRL II assay to estimate the concentration of monomeric PRL.

Background: Paramagnetic rim lesions (PRLs) are a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) marker of compartmentalized intraparenchymal inflammation.
Objectives: The primary objective was to investigate clinical, demographic, and MRI factors that may be predictive of the future formation of PRL.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of longitudinal data.

Inhibin B (INHB) is an emerging biomarker of sexual function diseases, but its clinical use in children is hindered due to the lacking reference intervals (RIs) based on age and sex. A total of 622 healthy Chinese children including 48.6% females and 51.

Rationale: Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare disease with few clinical reports and complex etiology. However, there have been no reports of hyperprolactinemia (HPRL) leading to PH at present. This paper, through case reports, expands the understanding of the etiology of PH and the pathological damage effect of prolactin (PRL).

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a complex disease driven by the immune system attacking the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Understanding the role of different T cell subpopulations in the development and progression of T1D is crucial. By employing flow cytometry to compare the characteristics of T cells, we can pinpoint potential indicators of treatment response or therapeutic inefficacy.
