In order to determine the structural relaxation time of a polymer glass during deformation, a strain rate switching experiment is performed in the steady-state plastic flow regime. A lightly cross-linked poly(methylmethacrylate) glass was utilized and, simultaneously, the segmental motion in the glass was quantified using an optical probe reorientation method. After the strain rate switch, a nonmonotonic stress response is observed, consistent with previous work.

Purpose: Fluid presence and dynamism is central to the diagnosis and management of neovascular age-related macular degeneration. On optical coherence tomography (OCT), some hyporeflective spaces arise through vascular permeability (exudation) and others arise through degeneration (transudation). Herein we determined whether the histological appearance of fluid manifested this heterogeneity.

Pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are made from soft, irreversibly lightly crosslinked polymers. Even after removal from surfaces, they retain insoluble networks which pose problems during the recycling of glass and cardboard. Herein, degradable PSAs are presented that provide the required performance in use but have networks that can be degraded after use.
