Leukoagglutination is a rare in vitro phenomenon, with demonstration of both temperature and/or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid dependence. We report a case of combined leukocyte and erythrocyte agglutination in a 7-year-old male with Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Epstein-Barr virus coinfection. To our knowledge, this morphologic finding has not previously been described.

Lectins are naturally occurring agglutinins which are produced more from plants sources compared to animal sources. The present study aims to screen the potential applications of lectin isolated from the mangrove plant, Poir. This root agglutinin of showed highest HA titre with buffalo erythrocytes.

The Coombs test is important in hematology for detecting erythrocyte-bound IgG antibodies or in serm through agglutination methods, but its sensitivity and specificity are limited. Flow cytometry provides a more precise and sensitive alternative for quantitatively assessing RBC-bound IgG antibodies. This assessment is crucial for evaluating the risk of hemolytic reactions and ensuring safe transfusions.

Ceftriaxone, a widely used antibiotic, is one of the most common drugs to cause drug-induced immune hemolytic anemia. In this report, we describe the effect of ceftriaxone on red blood cell parameters (low red blood cell count, low hematocrit, and high erythrocyte index values) in two pediatric patients without clinical symptoms of hemolytic anemia. Although automated hematology analyzers have helped to detect incorrect results, a peripheral blood smear examination was necessary for recognizing the erythrocyte agglutinins caused by ceftriaxone.

Galectins exhibit a variety of biological functions through interactions with their ligands, including galactose and its derivatives. Tandem-repeat galectins, such as Galectin-8, can act as pattern recognition receptors to aggregate and neutralize bacterial pathogens. In this study, Galectin-8 was identified in Trachinotus ovatus (golden pompano).

Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) are becoming increasingly important for biomedical applications, such as cell therapy, disease modeling, and drug screening. At the same time, long-term cultivation, which is necessary to prepare a sufficient amount of cellular material for therapeutic and research purposes, is accompanied by the development of replicative senescence. Partial reprogramming emerged as a novel method that shows promising results in the rejuvenation of cells in vitro and in vivo; however, it has not yet been applied for human MSCs that have undergone replicative senescence in culture.
