Overlapping platelets are layered within the connective tissue of the wall of a closed (physoclistous) swimbladder. The close, staggered arrangement of the platelets is viewed as a physical barrier that can interfere with the diffusion pathway of gas molecules. The result is a more efficient retention of gas pressures within the swimbladder.

: Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is a locally aggressive tumor. It accounts for only 5% of all bony tumors. Early diagnosis, and follow-up for recurrence is often difficult due to a lack of biogenetic markers.

Mutations in the genes , , and cause three clinically overlapping thrombocytopenias characterized by a predisposition to hematological neoplasms. The gene, which encodes a protein involved in protein-protein interactions, is downregulated by RUNX1 during megakaryopoiesis. Mutations in 5'UTR of ANKRD26, leading to ANKRD26-RT, disrupt this regulation, resulting in the persistent expression of ANKRD26, which leads to impaired platelet biogenesis and an increased risk of leukemia.

Background: An increasing body of evidence has linked fructose intake to colorectal cancer (CRC). African American (AA) adults consume greater quantities of fructose and are more likely to develop right-side colon cancer than European American (EA) adults.
Objective: We examined the hypothesis that fructose consumption leads to epigenomic and transcriptomic differences associated with CRC tumor biology.

We report a rare case of a 45-year-old Asian male patient with concurrent multiple myeloma (MM), immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), and thalassemia trait, presenting with severe thrombocytopenia, back pain, and bleeding manifestations. The diagnosis was established through a combination of laboratory findings, imaging, and bone marrow biopsy, revealing 90% plasma cell involvement and KRAS/BRCA2 mutations. Management focused on controlling ITP with corticosteroids, rituximab, and platelet transfusions while addressing immunosuppression risks.

Background/objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the lactate dehydrogenase-to-albumin ratio (LAR) in adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) and compare it with other inflammatory indices, using patients with fever of unknown origin (FUO) as a control group due to their overlapping clinical features with AOSD. The study also compared LAR's diagnostic performance with other inflammatory indices like the serum immune-inflammatory index (SII), ferritin/erythrocyte sedimentation rate (FER), CRP/albumin ratio (CAR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), as well as its combinations with FER, PLR, and ferritin (LAR + FER, LAR + PLR, LAR + ferritin).
Methods: A retrospective evaluation was conducted on 70 patients with fever of unknown cause and 78 patients with AOSD, admitted between January 2000 and December 2023 in a tertiary care hospital.
