In order to study the pattern of changes in quality of marinated Chinese mitten crabs (Eriocheir sinensis) during cold storage, three aspects of sensory, taste and odor were investigated. Sensory evaluation and total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) were measured in viscera and abdomen muscle at 0, 7, 15 and 30 days of storage at 4°C. Sensory scores significantly declined at 15 d, coinciding with TVB-N levels exceeding 25 mg N/100 g.

This study evaluates the head yield and its related traits, and physicochemical attributes of broccoli under four foliar sprays of mineral nutrients (B, Zn, Mo, and B + Zn + Mo) with control. The interaction effects of shelf-life and physicochemical attributes of broccoli for these five pre-harvest and five post-harvest storage treatments (LDP bag, HDP vacuum pack, 2% eggshell powder solution, 2% ascorbic acid, and control) both at cold storage and room temperature were evaluated with three replications.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the indications and management of grade III-IV postoperative complications in patients requiring vacuum-assisted open abdomen after debulking surgery for ovarian carcinomatosis.
Methods: Retrospective study of prospectively collected data from patients who underwent a cytoreductive surgery by laparotomy for an epithelial ovarian cancer that required postoperative management of an open abdomen. An abdominal vacuum-assisted wound closure (VAWC) was applied in cases of abdominal compartmental syndrome (ACS) or intra-abdominal hypertension, to prevent ACS.

The impact of different industrial practices at lamb export abattoirs in Ireland on the microbial and quality attributes of fresh vacuum-packed (VP) lamb leg joints, including Clean Livestock Policy (CLP), fleece clipping, carcass chilling times and vacuum pack storage, at typical chill and retail display temperatures was investigated. Five separate slaughter batches of lamb (ranging in size from 38 to 60 lambs) were followed at two lamb export plants over a two-year period, accounting for seasonal variation. In general, fleece clipping resulted in significantly lower microbial contamination on the fleece than the use of CLP alone.
