Over the past decade, our institution delivered conventional total body irradiation (TBI) using Elekta's Monaco treatment planning system (TPS) with an extended SSD field arrangement and 18 megavoltage (MV) energy lateral fields. In 2020, there was a transition to the Eclipse™ treatment planning system and Truebeam® linear accelerators with 6 MV and 10 MV energies. These changes meant that essential components of the existing technique were unavailable for clinical use and a new approach to the institution technique was required to ensure continuation of service.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the fluence smoothing threshold that preserves the dosimetric quality of planning for breast cancer intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
Material And Methods: We conducted automated treatment planning for 60 breast cancer patients using the Eclipse Scripting Application Programming Interface. The plans included four-field IMRT, emphasizing smoothing weight combinations while maintaining a 4:3 aspect ratio between the X and Y directions.

Introduction: Carotenoids are naturally occurring pigments in plants and are responsible for the orange, yellow, and red color of fruits and vegetables. Carrots are one of the primary dietary sources of carotenoids. The biological activities of carotenoids in higher organisms, including their immunomodulatory activities, are well documented in most tissues but not the large intestine.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOn 8 April 2024, a rare total solar eclipse (TSE) passed over western New York State (NYS), the first since 1925 and the last one until 2079. The NYS Mesonet (NYSM) consisting of 126 weather stations with 55 on the totality path provides unprecedented surface, profile, and flux data and camera images during the TSE. Here we use NYSM observations to characterize the TSE's impacts at the surface, in the planetary boundary layer (PBL), and on surface fluxes and CO concentrations.

However, current treatment methods can be time-consuming and expose patients to unnecessary radiation.
