In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Zn(H2O)6](C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))2.3H2O, the zinc cation complexes and picrate anions are stacked separately, extending along the b axis. No picrate species ligate to the metal cation. This lack of picrate coordination is atypical among metal picrate salts. We speculate that the size of the metal-aqua complex as related to the intermolecular distance of the picrate anions in the pi stack can be a measure of the formation of such separated stacks in the crystal structures of divalent metal complexes with picrate anions. Picrate ions are linked to each other with short intermolecular C...C contacts of 3.223 (6) and 3.194 (6) A in the stack.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant properties of the products derived from the biodegradation of lignin by the ligninolytic enzymes present in an aqueous extract of the mushroom . A mixture obtained after the incubation of lignin for 18 h with extract was tested in vitro for its total polyphenol content, reducing power, and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and hydroxyl (OH) radical-scavenging activities. The results showed that the enzymatic treatment of lignin enhanced its antioxidant performance.

In the present study, we designed to link the coumarin molecule to chitosan via a triazole group and synthesized chitosan-coumarin derivatives, which were further quaternized in one step in order to further improve their solubility to obtain a second series of chitosan-coumarin ammonium salt derivatives. The structures of these chitosan derivatives were verified by FT-IR and H NMR. They were tested for their antioxidant activities.
