Purpose: Despite the high prevalence of ventral hernias worldwide, intraoperative drain placement remains a controversial topic. Background: The present study utilized PET imaging to examine how long-term cocaine self-administration (SA) and time-off from cocaine affected kappa opioid receptor (KOR) availability in the brain of previously cocaine-naïve monkeys. In addition, neuronally derived small extracellular vesicles (NDEs) were measured from plasma to identify peripheral measures of KORs.

Methods: Female (n=6) and male (n=7) cynomolgus monkeys, living in stable same-sex social groups, were trained to SA intravenous cocaine.

Introduction: Oral semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist, requires administration on an empty stomach with up to 120 mL of water, followed by no intake of food, beverages, or other oral medications for at least 30 min to ensure optimal absorption. These instructions can be challenging to adhere to during Ramadan when patients fast for extended periods. The O-SEMA-FAST study assessed the impact of fasting on adherence to oral semaglutide dosing instructions and its subsequent effects on glycaemic control and body weight.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to characterize the antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities of postbiotics from lactic acid bacteria against .

Material And Methods: The anti- activity of postbiotics from the CERELA culture collection was assessed by measuring changes in the expression of key host proteins by ELISA and qPCR, the proteolytic activity by a fluorescence and a spectrophotometric method and virulence factors from by qPCR.

Results: Even though CRL1522 and CRL1363 exhibit only a discrete antibacterial activity against , the cell-free supernatants of these strains significantly reduced -induced secretion of interleukins IL-6 and IL-8 by keratinocytes and TNF-α and IL-6 by U937 macrophage-like cells.
