Dynamic recognition and mirage using neuro-metamaterials.

Breakthroughs in the field of object recognition facilitate ubiquitous applications in the modern world, ranging from security and surveillance equipment to accessibility devices for the visually impaired. Recently-emerged optical computing provides a fundamentally new computing modality to accelerate its solution with photons; however, it still necessitates digital processing for in situ application, inextricably tied to Moore's law. Here, from an entirely optical perspective, we introduce the concept of neuro-metamaterials that can be applied to realize a dynamic object- recognition system.

This paper explores how wellbeing is cultivated inside of domestic bomb shelters on Israel's contested and heavily militarised northern borders with Lebanon and Syria. It draws from ethnographic research conducted during what is locally referred to as being a time between wars, or a 'period of quiet', in the ongoing regional conflicts affecting these borders. Contrasting the upkeep and organisation of shelters situated in two private homes on the same street, the paper explores how shelters are used to foster a localised sense of wellbeing in a time of 'quiet', as well as who is seen to demonstrate wellbeing in this context.

Poloxamer 188-mediated anti-inflammatory effect rescues cognitive deficits in paraquat and maneb-induced mouse model of Parkinson's disease.

Mild cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD-MCI) is considered as a nonmotor clinical symptom in Parkinson's disease (PD). Microglia-mediated inflammation contributes to cognitive function impairment. Poloxamer 188 (P188) is an amphipathic polymer which has cytoprotective effect in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1, 2, 3, 6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced dopaminergic (DA) neurons degeneration in PD.

The ability to integrate experiential information and recall it in the form of memory is observed in a wide range of taxa, and is a hallmark of highly derived nervous systems. Storage of past experiences is critical for adaptive behaviors that anticipate both adverse and positive environmental factors. The process of memory formation and consolidation involve many synchronized biological events including gene transcription, protein modification, and intracellular trafficking: However, many of these molecular mechanisms remain illusive.

The exact mechanisms of CD4 help in the generation of memory cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) remain largely illusive. We propose that dendritic cells (DCs) first interact with CD4(+) T cells, resulting in DC licensing and CD4(+) T-cell priming. Thereafter, CD8(+) T cells can receive stimulatory signals from DC-CD4(+) T-cell clusters and as well as individually from licensed DCs and primed CD4(+) T cells.
