Diamond anvil presses of a new design were used to compress samples of beryllium-7 oxide to 120, 210, and 270 kilobars. The decay constant for the conversion of beryllium-7 to lithium-7 by electron capture was measured for compressed and uncompressed samples. A least-squares fit of the equation (lambda(c)-lambda)/lambda = KpP to the experimental data, where lambda(C) and lambda are the decay constants of the compressed sample and an uncompressed sample, respectively, and P is pressure, yields a value of (2.2 +/- 0.1) x 10(-5) kbar(-1) for the constant K(p).

Copper hexacyanoferrate (CuHCF) demonstrates high working voltage, convenient synthesis methods, and economic benefits. However, capacity decay of CuHCF//Zn full cells is usually observed in aqueous electrolytes due to the dissolution of Cu and Fe, as indicated by the irreversible insertion of Zn ions and the consequent formation of ZnCuHCF. To address these challenges, a cathode-oriented electrolyte engineering design employing a methyl acetate (MA) co-solvent with zinc triflate (Zn(OTf)) salt electrolyte is implemented.

Background: The lateral entorhinal cortex (LEC), followed by area CA1 of hippocampus, are interconnected brain areas implicated early in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Processing of LEC input by CA1 pyramidal neurons (PNs) is critical for non-spatial memory, in which deficits are seen in early AD. How this process is affected by tauopathy is unclear.

Plasmonic semiconductors exhibit significant potential for harvesting near-IR solar energy, although their mechanisms of plasmon-induced hot electron transfer (HET) are poorly understood. We report a transient absorption study of plasmon-induced HET in p-CuS/CdS type II heterojunctions. Near-IR excitation of the p-CuS plasmon band at ∼1400 nm leads to ultrafast HET into the CdS conduction band with a time constant of <150 fs and a quantum efficiency of ∼0.

This paper investigates the efficient degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP) in a sustainable γ-valerolactone (GVL) and water (H₂O) mixed system by controlling proton transfer and reducing the self-decay rate of Fe(VI). The kinetic model reveals that the GVL/H₂O system exhibits a rate constant of (9.7 ± 0.

To experimentally investigate the impact of macrocyclic structures on the nonradiative decay rate constants () of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), a macrocyclic molecule L-ring and its analogue NL-ring were designed and synthesized. The photophysical measurements reveal their TADF characteristics, and the of the L-ring (4.19 × 10 s) is slower than that of the NL-ring (1.
