In parallel with the introduction of modern therapeutic and pharmacological interventions that have successfully resolved many diseases and conditions, previously deemed incompatible with life, there has been a significant increase in the number of patients experiencing secondary immunodeficiency. As a result, these patients are highly susceptible to various opportunistic infections. Among these infections, pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) stands out as one of the most frequent and potentially life-threatening ones, necessitating prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Prostate cancer ranks among the most prevalent malignancies affecting males globally. This study sought to document the incidence, deaths and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) that were due to prostate cancer in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and its 21 countries, from 1990 to 2021. We analysed publicly accessible data from the Global Burden of Disease 2021 study to present findings on the incidence, deaths, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) associated with prostate cancer.

Background: Cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta spectrum disorder may be associated with severe hemorrhage because of placental invasion of the myometrium and the uterovesical space or parametrium. It leads to serious complications, such as massive hemorrhage requiring massive transfusion, coagulopathy, bladder and ureteric injuries, need for intensive care unit admission and prolonged hospital stay. To reduce the complications of cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta spectrum disorder, ongoing efforts are being made to develop different surgical approaches.

Background: The genus Pocock, 1901 previously included 25 known species and one subspecies from Asia, 12 species and one subspecies were reported in China.

New Information: Five new species of Pocock, 1901 from southern China are described: (♂♀) from Hainan, (♂♀) from Chongqing, (♂♀) from Hunan, (♂) from Sichuan and (♂♀) from south part of Shaanxi. DNA barcodes of the new species described herein are provided.
