We present a case of a 25-year-old man who had persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) lasting for three months. The persistent AF was terminated by a 20-mg bolus infusion of adenosine triphosphate. Frequent and repetitive episodes of ectopic atrial tachycardia (EAT) emerged from the mid-portion of the saddle between the left superior and inferior pulmonary veins. The successful ablation was achieved by a focal ablation at the site with the earliest activation preceding the P-wave onset by 42 ms, and exhibited a QS pattern in the unipolar recording. This is rare case in which focal ablation could cure persistent AF.

Capacitive-based radiofrequency (Rf) radiation at 27 MHz offers a non-invasive approach for inducing hyperthermia, making it a promising technique for thermal cancer therapy applications. To achieve focused and site-specific hyperthermia, external material is required that efficiently convert Rf radiation into localized heat. Nanomaterials capable of absorbing Rf energy and convert into heat for targeted ablation are of critical importance.

Background: The IntellaNav MiFi OI catheter (MiFi) is equipped with a sensor for local impedance (LI) monitoring and three mini-electrodes. In this study, we investigated the target LI values for a successful pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) under the pacing and ablation technique using the MiFi catheter.
Methods: Twenty-seven patients underwent PVI using the MiFi catheter under mini electrode pacing from the MiFi catheter.

The longest reported follow-up for thermal ablation of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) is 5 years. We evaluated the long-term efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in patients with low-risk PTMC with clinical follow-up of more than 10 years. In this retrospective cohort study, we included patients with low-risk PTMC who had more than 10 years of follow-up after ultrasound (US)-guided RFA (performed between May 2008 and December 2013).

Irreversible electroporation is a promising non-thermal ablation method that has been shown to increase overall survival in locally advanced pancreatic cancer in some studies. However, higher quality studies with proper controls and randomization are required to establish its superiority when added with neoadjuvant chemotherapy over the current management of choice, which is chemotherapy alone. Further studies are required before establishment of any survival benefit in metastatic pancreatic carcinoma, and such evidence is lacking at present.

Several diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic urological procedures, such as stent placement, ureteroscopy, and bladder stone lithotripsy, can be performed in a hospital, an ambulatory surgery center, in the office with IV sedation, or in the office using only topical anesthesia. The potential benefits of performing procedures in the office setting using topical anesthesia include efficiency and cost reduction. The potential harms are failure to achieve the desired outcome and patient pain.
