Objective: To observe effects of acupuncture serum of ovariectomized rats on the number of in vitro cultural osteoclast of newborn rats.
Methods: Forty 12-month-old SD female rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: sham-operation control group, ovariectomized (model) group, acupuncture prevention group and acupuncture treatment group. Osteoclasts isolated from long bone of the newborn SD rat were cultured on 24-well culture plates with DMEM containing 10% the test serum. Forty-eight hours later, the osteoclasts were stained with tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) and the number of TRAP-positive multinucleated cells were counted.
Results: The number of TRAP-positive multinucleated cells in the model group significantly increased as compared with the sham-operation control group (P < 0.01), and in the acupuncture prevention group and the acupuncture treatment group significantly declined compared with the model group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Acupuncture serum can equally reduce the number of osteoclasts in the two group.

Background: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is associated with an increased risk of dementia and may lead to chronic neurodegeneration. The utilization of intraoperative Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation (TEAS) in conjunction with anesthesia is expected to become an effective preventive measure for POCD in clinical practice.
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature review focusing on the use of TEAS in the prevention of POCD during surgical anesthesia.

Objective: To observe the effects of the "Zhibian" (BL54)-toward-"Shuidao" (ST28) acupuncture on key regulatory factors during mitochondrial apoptosis of testicular tissue in asthenozoospermia mice, and explore the potential mechanism of the protective effect of acupuncture on reproductive function.
Methods: Thirty C57BL/6 male mice were randomly divided into a blank group, a model group and an acupuncture group, 10 mice in each group. In the model and the acupuncture groups, the intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide (30 mg•kg•d) was delivered for 7 days to prepare the asthenozoospermia model.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with bamboo-based medicinal moxibustion in the treatment of chronic insomnia complicated with mild depressive state.
Methods: A total of 60 patients with chronic insomnia complicated with mild depressive state were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with acupuncture at bilateral Zhaohai (KI6), Shenmen (HT7), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Anmian (Extra) and Sishencong (EX-HN1), Baihui (GV20), etc.

Background: Diabetic nephropathy (DN), the most severe microvascular consequence of diabetes mellitus (DM), is the precursor to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The development of problems linked to DN involves both oxidative damage and inflammation. Natural flavone acacetin (AC) has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a persistent neurodevelopmental disorder affecting brains of children. Mounting evidences support the associations between gut microbial dysbiosis and ASD, whereas detailed mechanisms are still obscure.
Methods: Here we probed the potential roles of gut microbiome in ASD using fecal metagenomics and metabolomics.
