Interest in metal telluride thin films as components in electronic devices has grown recently. This tutorial review describes the use of single-source precursors for the preparation of metal telluride materials by aerosol-assisted chemical vapour deposition (AACVD) and acquaints the reader with the basic techniques of materials characterization. The challenges in the design and synthesis of suitable precursors are discussed, focusing on metal complexes of the recently-developed imino-bis(diisopropylphosphine telluride) ligand. The generation of thin films and nanoplates of CdTe, Sb(2)Te(3) and In(2)Te(3) from these precursors are used as illustrative examples.

Metal tellurides, known for their superior electrical conductivity and excellent electrochemical properties, are promising candidates for supercapacitor applications. This study introduces a novel method involving a metal-organic framework hybrid to synthesize CoTe@CoFeTe double-shelled nanocubes. Initially, zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF67) and CoFe Prussian blue analog (PBA) nanocubes are synthesized through an anion-exchange reaction with [Fe(CN)] ions.

Lithium-tellurium (Li-Te) batteries are gaining attention as a promising next-generation energy storage system due to their superior electrical conductivity and high volumetric capacity compared to sulfur and selenium. Tellurium's unique properties, such as suitable redox potential, excellent conductivity, high volumetric capacity, and greatest stability, position it as a strong candidate for negative electrode materials. This study explores the potential of metal tellurides, specifically CuTe and FeTe monolayers, as effective tellurium host materials, leveraging their polar interactions with lithium polytellurides.

Although fluorescence analysis methods are widely used in pesticide residue detection, improving their sensitivity and selectivity remains a challenge. This paper presents a novel ratio fluorescence sensor based on the molecular imprinting polymers (MIPs) and metal-enhanced fluorescence for visual detection of dicamba (DIC). Calcium fluoride (CaF) quantum dots (QDs) were immobilized on the surface of Ag@MIPs, resulting in a blue fluorescence response signal (Ag@MIPs-CaF).

Coulomb attraction with weak screening can trigger spontaneous exciton formation and condensation, resulting in a strongly correlated many-body ground state, namely, the excitonic insulator. One-dimensional (1D) materials natively have ineffective dielectric screening. For the first time, we demonstrate the excitonic instability of single atomic wires of transition metal telluride MTe (M = Mo, W), a family of 1D van der Waals (vdW) materials accessible in the laboratory.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are highly reactive, making them useful for environmental and health applications. Traditionally, photocatalysts and piezocatalysts have been used to generate ROS, but their utilization is limited by various environmental and physical constraints. This study introduces metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as modern thermocatalysts efficiently producing hydrogen peroxide (HO) from small temperature differences.
