Tricyclic quinazolinimines as a novel class of potent inhibitors of cholinesterases in vitro are micro- and sub-micromolar inhibitors with activities at both acetyl- (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) or at BChE only. To further establish the antiamnesic properties of this class of compounds, an in vivo test system has been established. Cognitive impairment in rats was reversibly induced by scopolamine (0.05 mg/100 g body weight) and evaluated in an eight-arm radial maze. A representative quinazolinimine (MD212) showed attenuation of cognitive deficits at a low dosage (0.01 mg/100 g body weight), whereas at a high dosage (>0.1 mg/100 g body weight) the effect of scopolamine is markedly reinforced. As MD212 applied alone does not influence rat's cognition at all, the reinforcement of scopolamine effect has to be due to the amplification of scopolamine action possibly by (1) inhibition of scopolamine metabolism, (2) influence of scopolamine on MD212 metabolism or (3) allosteric modulation of mACh receptors. Receptor-binding studies proved hypothesis (3): MD212 stabilizes [3H]N-methylscopolamine binding to muscarinic receptors allosterically.

The present work examines the extreme impact of lead acetate and the preventive function of co-supplementation with vitamin C and glutathione. It hypothesizes that these supplements can alleviate the poisonous effects of lead exposure. Eighty male albino rats, weighing 100 ± 15 g, were categorized into four groups: the control group, the second group receiving daily supplements of 100 mg/kg of body weight glutathione and 1 mg/100 g of body weight vitamin C orally, the third group receiving 100 mg/kg body weight of lead acetate orally daily, and the fourth group receiving similar oral dosages of lead acetate along with glutathione and vitamin C.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous condition characterized by hyperandrogenism (HA), polycystic ovaries, and dysfunctional ovulation, and it is associated with metabolic problems such as insulin resistance (IR) and obesity. After having investigated the morphological and antioxidant/antiglycative alterations on mouse ovaries and uteri, we here focus on PCOS oviducts, a tract of the reproductive system essential for the nourishment and transport of gametes and embryos. The modulating effects of L-carnitine (LC) and acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC) were also assessed.

Background: Wenshentiaojing Decoction (WSTJD), a traditional Chinese herbal prescription, was first recorded in the "Ye Tianshi female department secret recipe for diagnosis and treatment ". It has been proven effective in treating polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). However, the active ingredients and molecular mechanism of WSTJD against PCOS remain unclear.

The research is aimed at exploring the potential of marigold petal tea (MPT), rich in polyphenol contents, against oxidative stress and obesity in a rat model following a high-fat-sugar diet (HFSD). The MPT was prepared through the customary method of decoction and was subjected to analysis for its polyphenol composition using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Two specific doses of MPT, namely, 250 and 500 mg/kg body weight (BW), were chosen for the study-referred to as MPT-250 and MPT-500, respectively.
