Microcystins (MCs) may be group of closely related toxic cyclic heptapeptides produced by common cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). Their toxicity could be associated with specific inhibition of intracellular protein phosphatases type-1 and type-2A (PP1 and PP2A, respectively). There are some methods for analyzing and detecting MCs in aquatic environment, such as HPLC, LC-MS, PPIA, and ELISA. This review introduces advances on MCs determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and estimates the prospective development of ELISA for monitoring MCs in natural waters.

Emodin has shown certain anti-rheumatoid arthritis (RA) activity in preliminary studies. However, the precise mechanisms of emodin's anti-RA effects, particularly its direct targets, remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-RA activity of emodin and elucidate its potential mechanisms, with a specific focus on identifying its molecular targets.

Zearalenone (ZEN), a non-steroidal estrogenic mycotoxin, contaminates animal feed and grain crops, thereby entering the food chain and posing a significant threat to human health. Consequently, there is an urgent need for a sensitive and rapid method for detecting trace levels of ZEN. In this study, we developed a phage-displayed antigen-binding fragment (Fab-phage) and established a Fab-phage-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (Fab-pELISA) for ZEN detection.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) infectious wounds are a major concern due to drug resistance, leading to increased patient morbidity. Lichenysin (LCN), a lipopeptide and biosurfactant obtained from certain strains of , has demonstrated an excellent antimicrobial property. The present study focuses on the fabrication and comprehensive evaluation of LCN-incorporated poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/polycaprolactone (PCL)-based nanofiber scaffolds using an electrospinning technique as a potential wound healing biomaterial for the treatment of MDR infectious wounds in diabetic rats.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) commonly induces severe mucositis, causing pain, inflammation, and gastrointestinal dysfunction, which significantly increases patient morbidity and reduces quality of life. In Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other ethnopharmacological practices, dried ginger has been widely used to alleviate symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and inflammation, highlighting its important role in traditional medicine.

Aim Of The Study: This study explored the potential of dried ginger essential oil (DGEO) in mitigating intestinal epithelial barrier damage in mice with mucositis induced by 5-FU.
