Objective: To determine whether polymorphisms in the TNF-alpha promoter gene are associated with preeclampsia.
Methods: 105 women with preeclampsia and 200 controls were genotyped for the G-308A and C-850T polymorphisms by RFLP. Differences in allele, genotype, and haplotype frequencies between groups were assessed.
Results: The genotypic and allelic distribution of both polymorphisms was similar between groups. Moreover, the estimated overall pair of loci haplotype frequencies did not differ significantly.
Conclusion: We did not find any association between these polymorphisms and the risk for preeclampsia. However, we found that both the genotypic and allelic distribution in our population differed from those reported in other populations.

Introduction: Smoking during pregnancy (SDP) seems to paradoxically decrease the likelihood of preeclampsia. We aimed to investigate the association between smoking and isolated proteinuria during pregnancy. In addition, we investigated the associations and potential interaction between smoking and proteinuria on the risk for preterm birth.

Introduction: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) predominantly affects women, especially during their reproductive years, leading to increased risks during pregnancy. Latina women develop SLE at a younger age, which increases their susceptibility to pregnancy complications such as pre-eclampsia, preterm birth and fetal growth restriction.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to systematically review maternal and fetal outcomes in pregnant Latina women with SLE and to perform a meta-analysis to assess specific risks associated with the disease.

Background: Sirtuins and FoxO1 are reported to be important in the pathophysiology of preeclampsia. This study aimed to investigate whether serum FoxO1 and SIRT2 concentrations differ between preeclampsia and normal pregnancy and also to compare these markers in early- and late-onset preeclampsia.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 27 women with early-onset preeclampsia, 27 women with late-onset preeclampsia, and 26 healthy normotensive pregnant controls.

Preeclampsia is a common condition of pregnancy characterized by hypertension complicated by cerebral, cardiac, hepatic, renal, hematologic, and placental dysfunction. Patients with preeclampsia frequently undergo cesarean delivery, the most common major surgical procedure in the world. They represent a high-risk perioperative cohort suffering significant preventable morbidity and mortality.

The widespread use of perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) has raised concerns regarding its potential on pregnant women, particularly in relation to the development of pre-eclampsia (PE). This study investigates the impact of PFOS exposure on the LncRNA/Rnd3 axis in pregnant mice and its association with trophoblast cell functions in PE. Bioinformatics analysis revealed PFOS-related gene alterations in PE, with pathways enriched in apoptotic signaling and cytokine interactions.
