Utilizing innovative methods to advance the research and development (R&D) of health products and enhance their accessibility has become crucial to achieving universal health coverage, addressing public health emergencies, and promoting population health and wellbeing. However, structural contradictions do exist in the supply and demand of health products in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). With the joint support of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the Ministry of Education, and the China-ASEAN Center, Peking University established the China-ASEAN Science and Technology Cooperation Center for Public Health in April 2023.

Direct reciprocity is a wide-spread mechanism for the evolution of cooperation. In repeated interactions, players can condition their behavior on previous outcomes. A well-known approach is given by reactive strategies, which respond to the coplayer's previous move.

Effects of value-driven social learning on cooperation in the prisoner's dilemma games.

Despite the growing attention and research on the impact of Q-learning-based strategy updating on the evolution of cooperation, the joint role of individual learners and social learners in evolutionary games has seldom been considered. Here, we propose a value-driven social learning model that incorporates a shape parameter, β, to characterize the degree of radicalism or conservatism in social learning. Using the prisoner's dilemma game on a square lattice as a paradigm, our simulation results show that the cooperation level has a non-trivial dependence of β, density ρ, and dilemma strength b.

Oxytocin in Human Social Network Cooperation.

November 2024

Faculty of Psychology, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China.

Human society is organized in structured social networks upon which large-scale cooperation among genetically unrelated individuals is favored and persists. Such large-scale cooperation is crucial for the success of the human species but also one of the most puzzling challenges. Recent work in social and behavioral neuroscience has linked human cooperation to oxytocin, an evolutionarily ancient and structurally preserved hypothalamic neuropeptide.
