We have presented the mathematical model, which can be the basis of determination of a numerical algorithm for the thickness of concentration boundary layers calculation for ternary nonelectrolyte solutions. This model is based on Rayleigh equation and second Kedem-Katchalsky equation for ternary solutions. In proposed model, the thickness of concentration boundary layers is controlled by concentration Rayleigh number.

Microneedle(MN)-based drug delivery is one of the potential approaches to overcome the limitations of oral and hypodermic needle delivery. An in silico model has been developed for hollow microneedle (HMN)-based drug delivery in the skin and its subsequent absorption in the blood and tissue compartments in the presence of interstitial flow. The drug's reversible specific saturable binding to its receptors and the kinetics of reversible absorption across the blood and tissue compartments have been taken into account.

Chitosan Micro/Nanocapsules in Action: Linking Design, Production, and Therapeutic Application.

pH sensitivity of chitosan allows for precise phase transitions in acidic environments, controlling swelling and shrinking, making chitosan suitable for drug delivery systems. pH transitions are modulated by the presence of cross-linkers by the functionalization of the chitosan chain. This review relays a summary of chitosan functionalization and tailoring to optimize drug release.

In response to the intensifying competition in the mold market and the increasingly stringent specifications of die forgings, the existing 55NiCrMoV7 (MES 1 steel) material can no longer meet the elevated demands of customers. Consequently, this study systematically optimizes the alloy composition of MES 1 steel by precisely adjusting the molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V) contents. The primary objective is to significantly enhance the microstructure and thermal-mechanical fatigue performance of the steel, thereby developing a high-performance, long-life hot working die steel designated as MES 2 steel.

This study provides a review of 13 oceanographic campaigns between 2000 and 2017 to measure Hg in the Mediterranean, highlighting major findings from measurement and modelling activities during the Med-Oceanor program. The initial campaigns showed that high concentrations of RGM could be found far from industrial source regions and the observed daily variation in concentration, with peaks at midday and lower concentrations during darkness gave the first indications that photochemically mediated oxidation reactions were producing RGM in the MBL. Later atmospheric chemistry modelling studies showed the feasibility of Hg oxidation by bromine containing oxidants, which are released as a result of the acidification of sea salt aerosols in the Marine Boundary Layer (MBL).

Vegetation-climate feedbacks across scales.

Ann N Y Acad Sci

January 2025

Institute for Earth System Science and Remote Sensing, Leipzig University, Leipzig, Germany.

Vegetation is often viewed as a consequence of long-term climate conditions. However, vegetation itself plays a fundamental role in shaping Earth's climate by regulating the energy, water, and biogeochemical cycles across terrestrial landscapes. It exerts influence by consuming water resources through transpiration and interception, lowering atmospheric CO concentration, altering surface roughness, and controlling net radiation and its partitioning into sensible and latent heat fluxes.
