The search for neuroprotective compounds in lavender is driven by its traditional use for brain health, with antioxidant activity serving as a key mechanism in reducing oxidative stress and supporting cognitive function. Lavender's potential to protect neurons is based on its calming, anti-stress properties, which increase the brain's resistance to neurodegeneration. Although lavender is not a traditional medicinal plant in Ukraine, it is increasingly recognised for its medicinal properties and is widely cultivated in the country.

The molecular link between stress and carcinogenesis and the positive outcomes of stress intervention in cancer therapy have recently been well documented. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) facilitate cancer malignancy, drug resistance, and relapse and, hence, have emerged as a new therapeutic target. Here, we aimed to investigate the effect of three previously described antistress compounds (triethylene glycol, TEG; Withanone, Wi-N, and Withaferin A, Wi-A) on the stemness and differentiation characteristics of cancer cells.

Chlorogenic acid (CGA) has strong antioxidant properties. In order to improve the low maturation rate and poor vitrification freezing effect of sheep oocytes caused by oxidative stress. In this study, oocytes from 200 2-3-year-old Kazakh sheep were collected, and different concentrations of CGA were added to the maturation medium and vitrification freezing solution to study the effects of CGA on the maturation rate, cleavage rate, blastocyst rate, reactive oxygen species (ROS) and glutathione (GSH) levels, mitochondrial membrane potential, and the expression levels of oxidation and apoptosis-related genes in sheep oocytes.

Polyphenols are powerful natural antioxidants with numerous biological activities. They change cell membrane permeability, interact with receptors, intracellular enzymes, and cell membrane transporters, and quench reactive oxygen species (ROS). yeast, being similar to mammalian cells, can be used as a model to study their survival ability upon long-lasting cultivation, assaying the effect of dihydroquercetin polyphenol (DHQ).

Probiotic foods are foods containing probiotics, including dairy and non-dairy products, that exert significant beneficial impacts on human health. Benefiting from the rapid progress in systems biology, diverse types of probiotics with prominent health-promoting functionalities are unraveled, albeit such functions could be substantially influenced by the stress environments. Here, we conducted a comprehensive review to characterize the state-of-the-art research on probiotic foods and specific probiotics employed in their production.
