Acetabular insufficiency fractures are much less common than acetabular fractures associated with trauma. They most commonly occur in postmenopausal women with a history of rheumatoid arthritis or pelvic irradiation. We present the case of a 93-year-old man with an atraumatic pelvic insufficiency fracture of the fossa acetabuli. The patient had 2 predisposing risk factors: osteoporosis and lower-extremity reconstructive surgery.

Background: Traumatic injuries, such as falling, car accidents, and crushing mostly cause spinal fractures in young and middle-aged people, and > 50% of them are thoracolumbar fractures. This kind of fracture is easily combined with serious injuries to peripheral nerves and soft tissues, which causes paralysis of the lower limbs if there is no timely rehabilitation treatment. Young patients with thoracolumbar fractures find it difficult to recover after the operation, and they are prone to depression, low self-esteem, and other negative emotions.

Previous studies suggest a relationship between femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and femoral neck stress fractures (FNSF), due to pathologic biomechanics in the setting of femoral head abutment (cam morphology) and/or acetabular overcoverage (pincer morphology). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association between cam or pincer morphology and FNSF, compared to a control group of patients without hip pain. A retrospective review of the electronic medical record at a single institution was queried for patients with FNSF over a 10-year time period from January 2011-2021.

In the musculoskeletal system, lymphatic vessels (LVs), which are interdigitated with blood vessels, travel and form an extensive transport network. Blood vessels in bone regulate osteogenesis and hematopoiesis, however, whether LVs in bone affect fracture healing is unclear. Here, we investigate the lymphatic draining function at the tibial fracture sites using near-infrared indocyanine green lymphatic imaging (NIR-ICG) and discover that lymphatic drainage insufficiency (LDI) starts on day one and persists for up to two weeks following the fracture in male mice.

Objective: Soft tissue defects and postoperative wound healing complications related to calcaneus fractures may result in significant morbidity. The aim of this study was to investigate whether percutaneous minimally invasive screw internal fixation (PMISIF) can change this situation in the treatment of calcaneal fractures, and aimed to explore the mechanical effects of different internal fixation methods on Sanders type III calcaneal fractures through finite element analysis.
Methods: This retrospective analysis focused on 83 patients with Sanders II and III calcaneal fractures from March 2017 to March 2022.
