Because it can accurately detect preserved glucose metabolism even in the hypoperfused or stunned myocardium, 18-FDG-PET is considered as the gold standard of myocardial viability assessment. In tako-tsubo cardiomyopathy, a presumed condition of stunning, absence of glucose metabolism however is not a marker of death. This sheds a critical light on 18-FDG-PET as a gold standard for viability.

Background: Glucose transporter 1 deficiency syndrome (Glut1DS) was initially reported by De Vivo and colleagues in 1991. This disease arises from mutations in the SLC2A1 and presents with a broad clinical spectrum. It is a treatable neuro-metabolic condition, where prompt diagnosis and initiation of ketogenic dietary therapy can markedly enhance the prognosis.

Plant-based foods with low methionine contents have gained increasing interest for their potential health benefits, including neuroprotective effects. Methionine restriction (MR) linked to a plant-based diet has been shown to mitigate neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) through mechanisms that involve the gut microbiota. In this study, a 16-week MR diet (0.

Unlabelled: Acetate/acetyl-CoA interconversion is an interesting metabolic node, primarily catalyzed by a set of various enzymes in prokaryotes. is a promising haloarchaeaon, capable of utilizing acetate as a sole carbon source for biosynthesis of high value-added products. Here, we have reported the key enzymes that catalyzed acetate activation in .

During aerobic growth, relies on acetate overflow metabolism, a process where glucose is incompletely oxidized to acetate, for its bioenergetic needs. Acetate is not immediately captured as a carbon source and is excreted as waste by cells. The underlying factors governing acetate overflow in have not been identified.
