The size of viral genomes is limited, thus the majority of encoded proteins possess multiple functions. The main function of tobamoviral movement protein (MP) is to perform plasmodesmata gating and mediate intercellular transport of the viral RNA. MP is a remarkable example of a protein that, in addition to the initially discovered and most obvious function, carries out numerous activities that are important both for the manifestation of its key function and for successful and productive infection in general.

Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the introduction of a phosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetase (PRS) mutation into a plant growth-promoting strain of Methylorubrum on the enhancement of phyllosphere colonization, with the ultimate goal of improving plant growth and quality.
Methods And Results: A strain of Methylorubrum populi (named HS04) was isolated from the groundnut leave and found to process the plant-promoting traits, including the ability to produce indole acetic acid, siderophore, 1-aminocyclopropane-1- carboxylate deaminase, and to fix nitrogen. A microRNA with a non-canonical precursor structure harbours an intron in between its miRNA-5p and miRNA-3p relevant for its biogenesis, is conserved across Solanaceae, and targets the mRNA of low phosphate root. Hundreds of miRNAs have been identified in plants and great advances have been accomplished in the understanding of plant miRNA biogenesis, mechanisms and functions. Still, many miRNAs, particularly those with less conventional features, remain to be discovered.
