We consider scattering of stochastic scalar fields on deterministic as well as on random media, occupying a finite domain. The scattering is characterized by a generalized scattering matrix which transforms the angular correlation function of the incident field into the angular correlation function of the scattered field. Within the accuracy of the first Born approximation this matrix can be expressed in a simple manner in terms of the scattering potential of the scatterer. Apart from determining the angular distribution of the spectral intensity of the scattered field, the scattering matrix makes it possible also to determine the changes in the state of coherence of the field produced on scattering.

In three-dimensional (3D)-printed tissue models, sensitive, noninvasive techniques are required to detect changes in hydrogel structure caused by cellular remodeling. We demonstrate herein that circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy provides a reliable method for detecting hydrogel structural variations. We probe directly the plasmonic optical activity of chiral gold nanorods (c-AuNRs) embedded within the hydrogel matrix, in response to variations in the local environment.

Ball bearings face numerous challenges under harsh operating conditions of elevated pressure between the balls and other contacting parts of the bearing like drop in tribological properties. To address these challenges, this paper presents the first successful experimental investigation of incorporating an innovative hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) into Aluminum-Carbon nanotube (Al-0.6 wt% CNTs) nanocomposites.

A Wide-Angle and PON Fully Polarimetric Retrodirective Array at the X Band.

A new type of fully polarimetric retrodirective array (RDA) using a PON-type structure is proposed in this paper. The fully polarimetric property is the result of the proposed phase conjugation circuits, which perform phase conjugation processing on the x, y, and z polarization electric field components of the incident wave when combined with a tri-polarized antenna array. It enables the retrodirective array to receive and retransmit an arbitrary polarized incident wave.

The presence of island grains in the initial finished sheets of grain-oriented electrical steel is inevitable in the preparation of ultra-thin strips. Owing to their distinctive shape and size effects, their deformation behavior during rolling differs from that of grain-oriented electrical steels of conventional thickness. This study focuses on the orientation evolution and deformation heterogeneity of island grains during rolling.

Article Synopsis
  • Incorporating nanomaterials into hydrogels allows for the creation of customizable materials with adjustable properties based on their nanoscale structures.
  • This study explores the relationship between the structural arrangement and properties of a composite hydrogel made from thermoresponsive polymer, gelatin, and antimicrobial light-responsive gold nanorods (PAuNRs).
  • Findings indicate that the addition of PAuNRs leads to a softer hydrogel with reduced elasticity, which can be tailored for specific biomedical applications like tissue engineering and drug delivery.
