The levels of the proinflammatory cytokines including interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) was investigated in 73 children in the age range from 3 to 17 years with slight and medium-heavy diarrheal illness caused by pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic entrobacteria. Strong positive correlation was found between: the levels of IL-1beta, TNF-alpha and intoxication rate (r=0.65 and r=0.49); height of temperature and duration of fever (r=0.86 and r=0.66); dyspepsia (r=0.48 and r=0.41); diarrhea (r=0.37 and r=0.54) and changes in blood including number of leucocytes (r=0.40 and r=0.52) and level of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) (r=0.65 and r=0.52). Medium positive relationship between the level of IL-6 and intoxication rate (r=0.40 and r=0.52), height of temperature and duration of fever (r=0.45), changes in blood including ESR (r=0.42) and number of leucocytes (r=0.46) was shown. There was a strong positive correlation between IL-1beta and TNF-alpha (r=0.74), between IL-6 and TNF-alpha (r=0.71) and a medium positive correlation between IL-1beta and IL-6 (r=0.61). Considerable decrease in concentration of all cytokines during early period of convalescent at disease with no complications was revealed. Change in concentration of IL-1beta and TNF-alpha determines both intoxication rate and fever. High level of IL-6 is related with complications and lingering course of disease.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic offers a rare opportunity to understand how citizens attribute responsibility for governments' responses to unanticipated negative-and in this case, systemic-exogenous shocks. Classical accounts of responsibility are complicated when crises are pervasive, involve multiple valence dimensions, and where individuals can make relative assessments of performance. We fielded a conjoint experiment in 16 countries with 22,147 respondents.

Assessing groundwater contamination risk is a critical aspect of preventing and managing groundwater pollution. There was a research gap in the investigation of uncertainties in modeling groundwater contamination risks in aquifers. This study addresses this gap using Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA), with a novel focus on risk exposures from geogenic contaminants, such as lead (Pb).

Bone mechanical function is determined by multiple factors, some of which are still being elucidated. Here, we present a multivariate analysis of the role of bone tissue composition in the proximal femur stiffness of cadaver bones (n = 12, age 44-93). Stiffness was assessed by testing under loading conditions simulating a sideways fall onto the hip.

Breast cancer represents the primary cause of death of women under 65 in developed countries, due to the acquisition of multiple drug resistance mechanisms. The PI3K/AKT pathway is one of the major regulating mechanisms altered during the development of endocrine resistance and inhibition of steps in this signalling pathway are adopted as a key strategy to overcome this issue. ADP-ribosylation is a post-translational modification catalysed by PARP enzymes that regulates essential cellular processes, often altered in diseases.

Integration of resistance indicators, metabolomes, and transcriptomes to elucidate that there is a positive correlation between disease susceptibility and cold tolerance in tea plants. The flavonoid pathway was found to be the major metabolic and transcriptional enrichment pathway. A key domain NB-ARC was identified through joint analysis, along with analysis of key domains within the NB-ARC protein.
