Arabinoxylan arabinofuranohydrolases (AXH) are alpha-L-arabinofuranosidases (EC 3.2.1.55) that specifically hydrolyse the glycosidic bond between arabinofuranosyl substituents and xylopyranosyl residues from arabinoxylan, hence their name. In this study, the crystallization and preliminary X-ray analysis of the AXH from Bacillus subtilis, a glycoside hydrolase belonging to family 43, is described. Purified recombinant AXH crystallized in the orthorhombic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), with unit-cell parameters a = 68.7, b = 73.7, c = 106.5 A. X-ray diffraction data were collected to a resolution of 1.55 A.

Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl (FE) is widely applied as a post-emergence aryloxyphenoxy propionate (AOPP) herbicide in agriculture. A novel FE hydrolase esterase from Acinetobacter sp. DL-2 (AfeH) was identified which belongs to the family IV carboxylesterases and shows less than 30% identity to other reported homologues with known structure.

In our preliminary studies, the extract demonstrated inhibition of calcium phosphate (brushite) crystals. Human serum albumin (HSA) is known to act as a promoter of brushite crystal growth. Therefore, the present study aims to explore the molecular mechanisms involved in brushite crystal nephrolithiasis by conducting molecular docking of phytoconstituents from with HSA.

Liquid crystal (LC) based biosensors offer a sensitive platform for detecting biomolecules due to their ability to respond to molecular interactions through changes in LC orientations. In this paper, we introduce a novel LC biosensor using 4-heptyl-4-biphenyl carbonitrile (7CB) to detect Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA). Atherosclerosis, the major underlying cause of cardiovascular disease, is believed to arise from the accumulation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in the arterial subendothelial space, ultimately leading to plaque formation. It is proposed that the accumulation of LDL is linked to its intrinsic aggregation propensity. Although the native LDL is not prone to aggregation, LDL(-), an electronegative LDL characterized in the plasma, has been shown to prime LDL aggregation in a domino-like behavior similar to amyloidogenic proteins.
