Published: June 2004

A 20-year-old male is presented with hemoptysis since 3 months. Plain chest X-ray and computed tomography (CT) chest at that time showed bilateral hilar shadows. Recent X-ray showed a huge right-sided well-defined opacity. CT chest and magnetic resonance angiography were ordered for him revealing a huge intrapulmonary hematoma.

Foxm1 promotes differentiation of neural progenitors in the zebrafish inner ear.

Dev Biol

January 2025

Biology Department, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX 7843-3258. Electronic address:

During development of the vertebrate inner ear, sensory epithelia and neurons of the statoacoustic ganglion (SAG) arise from lineage-restricted progenitors that proliferate extensively before differentiating into mature post-mitotic cell types. Development of progenitors is regulated by Fgf, Wnt and Notch signaling, but how these pathways are coordinated to achieve an optimal balance of proliferation and differentiation is not well understood. Here we investigate the role in zebrafish of Foxm1, a transcription factor commonly associated with proliferation in developing tissues and tumors.

Objective: Mycoplasmas are structurally simple pathogenic microorganisms that can cause a wide range of diseases in humans and animals and conventional antibiotic therapies of fluoroquinolones and tetracyclines are toxic to young children and young animals and macrolide resistance is increasing. In this context, new anti-mycoplasma antimicrobial agents need to be developed. 22-((4-((4-nitrophenyl)acetamido)phenyl)thio)deoxypleuromutilin (compound 16C) is a novel acetamine phenyl pleuromutilin derivative.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive impairment and distinct neuropathological features, including amyloid-β plaques, neurofibrillary tangles, and reactive astrogliosis. Developing effective diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic strategies for AD necessitates the establishment of animal models that accurately recapitulate the pathophysiological processes of the disease. Existing transgenic mouse models have significantly contributed to understanding AD pathology but often fail to replicate the complexity of human AD.

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a rapidly evolving in-situ multi-element analysis technique that has significantly advanced the field of liquid analysis. This study employs a femtosecond laser for quantitative analysis of heavy metals in flowing liquids, exploring its detection sensitivity and accuracy. Femtosecond pulsed laser excitation of water in a dynamic environment generates plasma while effectively preventing liquid splashing.

Hexafluoropropylene oxide trimer acid (HFPO-TA, CF(CFOCF(CF))COOH) is widely used as an alternative to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), but whether it is a safe alternative requires further evaluation. In this study, male mice were exposed to three dosages (0.56, 2.
