This case report describes the prehospital care of a person with severe polytrauma due to being jammed in a vehicle in a traffic accident. After understanding the forces involved in causing the trauma, the therapy of impaired vital functions is demonstrated with particular regard to time management. Use of a rescue helicopter allowed for minimizing the delay to initial treatment as well as the duration of transport.

Traumatic hemothorax is a serious condition requiring immediate intervention. We present a case of a 48-year-old male professional jockey who suffered traumatic hemothorax, bilateral pulmonary contusions, and multiple rib fractures after being stomped by a horse. Management included intercostal drainage placement, costal fixation from the 5th to the 10th rib, and intensive care unit admission.

Introduction And Importance: Multifocal fractures in a single upper extremity represent a significant clinical challenge, often resulting from high-energy impacts such as motor vehicle accidents or severe falls. These injuries require complex, multifaceted approaches in management, spanning initial acute care to long-term rehabilitation. This paper examines the complexities of diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating multifocal upper extremity fractures, highlighting the importance of timely intervention and a multidisciplinary approach to maximize functional recovery, minimize long-term disability and the prognosis.

Background: This study aimed to compare the predictive performance of the BIG score (base deficit + [2.5 × international normalized ratio (INR)] + [15 - Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS)]) for in-hospital mortality in adult patients with multiple trauma against other scoring systems, including the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), Revised Trauma Score (RTS), and Injury Severity Score (ISS).
Methods: A retrospective single-center study was conducted, including 563 adults (aged ≥18 years) with multiple trauma who were admitted to the emergency department and hospitalized between January 2022 and December 2023.

Barotrauma is a medical condition caused by sudden pressure changes in the body causing damage to multiple parts of the body. However, it is an infrequent occurrence when it comes to Colo-rectal perforation, wherein the trauma occurs due to the insufflation of compressed air through the anus. Several factors influence the outcome of a patient with colonic perforation due to barotrauma such as the severity of the injury, hemodynamic status of the patient, the patient's general health and well-being, the time taken for active medical/ surgical intervention since the injury, aggressive intravenous antibiotics administration to prevent sepsis, post-operative complications like surgical site infection, post-op ileus, anastomotic leak, etc.

Background: C-reactive protein (CRP) represents a routine diagnostic marker of inflammation. Dissociation of native pentameric CRP (pCRP) into the monomeric structure (mCRP) liberates proinflammatory features, presumably contributing to excessive immune cell activation via unknown molecular mechanisms.
Results: In a multi-translational study of systemic inflammation, we found a time- and inflammation-dependent pCRP dissociation into mCRP.
