Ischaemia-reperfusion damage induced by torsion/detorsion of the testicles may be a causative factor leading to erectile dysfunction through oxidative stress-dependent changes in the responses of the penile bulb, an erectile tissue of the penis. We aimed at investigating the effects of unilateral testicular torsion/detorsion (2 or 24 hr) treatment on relaxations induced by electrical field stimulation and sodium nitroprusside in rat isolated penile bulb. Male Sprague-Dawley rats used in the study were divided into two groups. The treatment group was subjected to unilateral torsion followed by detorsion for 2 or 24 hr, while the control group underwent only sham operation. For in vitro organ bath experiments, penile bulbs were isolated and responses to relaxant agents and electrical field stimulation (70 V, 1 msec., 0.5-8 Hz, 5 sec.) were recorded on a computer-based data acquisition system via a force displacement transducer. In tissues precontracted with phenylephrine (3 x 10(-6 )M), relaxations induced by electrical field stimulation were not significantly different before and after 2 or 24 hr of detorsion. Similarly sodium nitroprusside- (10(-8)-3 x 10(-6 )M) and papaverine-induced (10(-7)-10(-4 )M) relaxations were also found unchanged in the detorsion group compared to control. In conclusion, spermatic cord torsion did not lead to impairment in nitric oxide-mediated relaxant responses of the rat isolated penile bulb.

Background: There is little information about when and how cavernosal sinusoidal endothelia develop in the external genitalia of fetuses.
Methods: We examined histological sections of erectile tissue in 37 human fetuses (25 males and 12 females) whose gestational age (GA) ranged from 8 to 40 weeks.
Results: The sinusoidal lumen was filled with blood in the glans of the penis and clitoris at a GA of 10 to 11 weeks, and in the corpus spongiosum at a GA of 15 to 16 weeks.
The paper details new geographic records of two species of the genus Polycelis Ehrenberg,1831 (Platyhelminthes, Tricladida, Planariidae) for the Qinling Mountains and the Loess Plateau in China and provides redescriptions of these species based on an integrative taxonomic study involving morphology, karyology, and histology. This new information considerably expands our knowledge on these species, for which until now only limited data was available. The species Polycelis asiatica Selinova, 1985 is characterized by the following features: 63-80 eyes; sperm ducts that exhibit an intrabulbar knee-shaped bend towards the ventral surface before opening separately and symmetrically into the antero-dorsal portion of a large seminal vesicle; the latter is ventrally displaced, thus creating a narrow ventral lip on the penis papilla; dorsal wall of the seminal vesicle is provided with several well-developed folds; more or less bulbous penis papilla protrudes from the dorsal wall of the male atrium and is provided with a slender and flexible tip; chromosome complement diploid with 30 metacentric chromosomes, 8 submetacentric chromosomes, and 2 subtelocentric chromosomes.

Objective: To investigate the application of transperineal ultrasound for assessing pelvic floor muscle (PFM) function in male patients with constipation and to evaluate its clinical value.
Methods: The study included 32 male patients with constipation and 32 healthy controls, all of whom underwent transperineal ultrasound examinations. Measured parameters included the anorectal angle (ARA), levator plate angle (LPA), excursions of the ARA and LPA, and displacements of the bulb of the penis (BP), mid-urethra (MU), urethra-vesical junction (UVJ), and anorectal junction (ARJ) at rest, during maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), and during maximal Valsalva maneuver.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the dosimetric impact of sexual-sparing radiotherapy for prostate cancer, with magnetic resonance-only treatment planning.
Material And Methods: Fifteen consecutive patients receiving prostate cancer radiotherapy were selected. A synthetic CT was generated with a deep learning method from each T2-weighted MRI performed at the time of treatment planning.
