Breast and bottle-feeding are areas of concern in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The clinical issues encompass the typically developing preterm infant, who requires special supports to develop the skills needed for successful oral feeding, and the preterm and term infants with dysphagia, who, when able, require specialized assessment and treatment strategies to facilitate the maturation of sucking behaviors and transition to oral feeding. Research is increasingly addressing the development from non-nutritive to nutritive sucking, maturation of typical and atypical nutritive sucking in young infants, as well as assessment strategies and treatment supports for emerging sucking and remediation of feeding or swallowing problems. There continue to be gaps in the available information. These gaps are filled by expert opinion and clinical experience. However, an increase of clinically relevant, databased information is promising. The primary goals of treatment in this population are to facilitate transition from tube to oral feeding and advance sucking skills sufficiently to support needs for nutrition and hydration as the infant grows. The purpose of this article is to review the recent research that has provided an evidence base for clinical practice. The discussion includes research and practice for the use of clinical and instrumental assessments, and for therapeutic interventions selected to prepare the infant for nipple feeding and to support the infant and improve sucking competencies during oral feeding.

Infantile haemangioma (IH) is the most common childhood tumour, often developing in the head and neck region. It may cause disfigurement, functional impairment, or tooth developmental issues when it is present in the oral cavity. We report a case of a 2-month-old boy referred to the paediatric dentistry team with a segmental IH involving the left periorbital, cheek, and hard palate.

Background: Discovering insecticidal proteins with high activity and strict insect specificity and applying them to the biological control of insect pests is of great significance. Oral LqhIT2 has insecticidal activity, which most other insecticidal neurotoxin proteins do not have, but the large-scale preparation of the toxin is difficult and one of the obstacles to determining its anti-insect potential for biological control.
Results: In this study, the expression level of recombinant LqhIT2 (rLqhIT2) in Pichia pastoris was as high as 1.

Ethylicin is a pesticide with excellent bactericidal ability. The incidence of poisoning has increased in recent years with the widespread use of ethylicin in green agriculture, but reports are lacking. In this study, we described three cases of oral ethylicin poisoning.

Gut bacteria play pivotal roles in the antitumor effects of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). However, antimicrobial therapy, often necessary for infections in cancer patients, can reduce the efficacy of ICIs. The potential of probiotics to restore ICI efficacy remains uncertain.

Background: Liuweizhiji Gegen-Sangshen oral liquid (LGS), as a Chinese medicinal preparation, is developed from a Traditional Chinese medicinal formula consisting of six Chinese medicinal herbs, including Puerariae lobatae radix, Hoveniae semen, Imperatae rhizoma, Crataegi fructus, Mori fructus and Canarli fructus, and has been extensively utilized in the prevention and treatment of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) clinically. Previous study has demonstrated that LGS dose-dependently mitigated ALD in rat models. However, whether and how the main characteristic constituents of LGS (the flavonoid and polysaccharide fractions, LGSF and LGSP) contribute to the anti-ALD effect remains unclear.
