Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an idiopathic systemic connective tissue disorder characterized by fibrosis of the skin and internal organs, with growing interest in the imbalance between Th17 cells and regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the disease's pathogenesis. Heligmosomoides polygyrus (Hp), a natural intestinal parasite of mice, is known to induce Tregs in the host. We aimed to investigate the effects of Hp-induced Tregs on bleomycin-induced dermal fibrosis and clarify the role of the Th17/Treg balance in SSc fibrosis.

Microbiota composition regulates colitis severity, yet the innate immune mechanisms that control commensal communities and prevent disease remain unclear. We show that the innate immune receptor, Clec12a, impacts colitis severity by regulating microbiota composition. Transplantation of microbiota from a Clec12a animal is sufficient to worsen colitis in wild-type mice.

Nanoparticles (NPs) have been explored as drugs carriers for treating tumors and central nervous system (CNS) diseases and for oral administration. However, they lack satisfactory clinical efficacy due to poor extravasation and infiltration through biological barriers to target tissues. Most clinical antitumor NPs have been designed based on enhanced permeability and retention effects which are insufficient and heterogeneous in human tumors.

The duodenal diverticulum is a relatively frequent entity whose diagnosis has been increased over time with the development of new diagnostic and exploratory techniques. Periampullary diverticula (PAD) were classified as type 1, 2, or 3 according to the position of the major papilla from the endoscopic view: type 1, the major papilla was located inside of the diverticula; type 2, the major papilla was located at the edge of the diverticula; type 3, the major papilla was located outside of the diverticula. Complications of duodenal diverticula include ulceration, bleeding, perforation and inflammation with intestinal obstruction.
