NO-sensitive guanylyl cyclase (NO-GC) is involved in the (patho)physiology of the mammalian heart. However, little is known about the individual cardiac cell types that express NO-GC and the role of the enzyme in cardiac fibrosis. Here, we describe the cellular expression of NO-GC in healthy and fibrotic murine myocardium; these data were compared with scRNA-seq data.

Fibrotic remodeling of nucleus pulposus (NP) leads to structural and mechanical anomalies of intervertebral discs that prone to degeneration, leading to low back pain incidence and disability. Emergence of fibroblastic cells in disc degeneration has been reported, yet their nature and origin remain elusive. In this study, we performed an integrative analysis of multiple single-cell RNA sequencing datasets to interrogate the cellular heterogeneity and fibroblast-like entities in degenerative human NP specimens.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play important roles in the occurrence and development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and are a key component of the immunosuppressive microenvironment. However, the origin of CAFs has not been fully elucidated. We employed single-cell sequencing technology to identify the dynamic changes in different subsets of fibroblasts at different time points in rat primary HCC model.

Embryonic mammary gland development unfolds with the specification of bilateral mammary lines, thereafter progressing through placode, bud, and sprout stages before branching morphogenesis. Extensive epithelial-mesenchymal interactions guide morphogenesis from embryogenesis to adulthood. Two distinct mesenchymal tissues are involved, the primary mammary mesenchyme that harbors mammary inductive capacity, and the secondary mesenchyme, the precursor of the adult stroma.

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in the world, and its metastasis is the main cause of death in breast cancer patients. However, the differences between primary breast cancer tissue and lymphatic node, bone, and brain metastases at the single-cell level are not fully understood. We analyzed the microenvironment heterogeneity in samples of primary breast cancer (n = 4), breast cancer lymphatic node metastasis (n = 4), breast cancer brain metastasis (n = 3), and breast cancer bone metastasis (n = 2) using single-cell sequencing data from the GEO database.
