Objective: To investigate the causal influence of gut microbiota on small cell lung cancer (SCLC) progression using Mendelian randomisation (MR), providing insights into the gut-lung axis in lung cancer pathology.
Study Design: Analytical study. Place and Duration of the Study: Department of Radiotherapy, Binhai County People's Hospital, Yancheng, Jiangsu, China, and Department of Paediatrics, General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, Yinchuan, Ningxia, China, from January to May 2024.

The pro-tumor effects of mast cell (MC) in the tumor microenvironment (TME) are becoming increasingly clear. Recently, MC were shown to contribute to tumor malignancy by supporting the migration of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), suggesting a relationship with tumor immunity. In the current study, we aimed to examine the correlation between MC infiltration and neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) response for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC).

Histone acetyltransferases p300 (E1A-associated protein p300) and CBP (CREB binding protein), collectively known as p300/CBP due to shared sequence and functional synergy, catalyze histone H3K27 acetylation and consequently induce gene transcription. p300/CBP over-expression or over-activity activates the transcription of oncogenes, leading to cancer cell growth, resistance to apoptosis, tumor initiation and development. The discovery of small molecule inhibitors targeting p300/CBP histone acetyltransferase activity, bromodomains, dual inhibitors of p300/CBP and BRD4 bromodomains, as well as proteolysis-targeted-chimaera p300/CBP protein degraders, marks significant progress in cancer therapeutics.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) ameliorate inflammation by inhibiting T cell responses. In pathological conditions, such as autoimmunity, chronic infections or cancer they accumulate in the periphery. In cancer, MDSCs can also be part of the tumor microenvironment and are associated with a worse prognosis and limited response to immunotherapy.

Although immunotherapy is currently one of the most promising methods for cancer treatment, its clinical application is limited due to issues such as excessive autoimmune responses and lack of specificity. Therefore, there is a need to improve immunotherapy by integrating emerging medical technologies with traditional treatments. The activation of the cGAS-STING pathway plays a crucial role in innate immunity and antiviral defense, making it highly promising for immunotherapy and attracting significant attention.
