Aim: To explore effects of Yishen Decoction on the expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in kidney of mice with IgA nephropathy (IgAN).

Methods: The IgAN model was established by oral administration of bovine serum albumin (BSA) together with the injection of Staphylococcus enterotoxin B (SEB) through caudal vein. The mRNA and protein expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were measured by fluorescent quantitative RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry respectively.

Results: No significant differences of mRNA and protein expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were found between the low and high concentration Yishen Decoction treated group. But the expression of TIMP-1 in the Yishen Decoction treated group was lower than that in the IgAN group, while that of MMP-9 was higher than that in the control group.

Conclusion: The TCM Yishen Decoction can inhibit the abnormal expression of TIMP-1, and strengthen the expression of MMP-9 in kidney of mouse with IgA nephropathy.

Background: Aging is the primary risk factor for the onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Inflamma-aging is a major feature in the process of aging, and the chronic neuroinflammation caused by inflamma-aging is closely related to AD. As the main participant of neuroinflammation, the polarization of microglia (MG) could influence the development of neuroinflammation.

Unlabelled: The incidence of Parkinson's disease (PD) rises rapidly with the increase of age. With the advent of global aging, the number of patients with PD is rising along with the elderly population, especially in China. Previously, we found that Yishen chuchan decoction (YCD), prescribed based on clinical experience, has the potential of alleviating symptoms, delaying the progression, and controlling the development of PD.

Article Synopsis
  • Liangxue Guyuan Yishen Decoction (LGYD), a traditional Chinese medicine, has shown promising results in treating radiation-induced intestinal injury, but its mechanisms need further exploration for better understanding and potential pharmaceutical development.
  • The study investigates how LGYD affects gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) as part of its therapeutic effects on radiation-induced intestinal injury, utilizing various analytical methods to explore these relationships.
  • Results indicate that LGYD enhances recovery from intestinal injury, boosts specific beneficial gut bacteria (like Akkermansia muciniphila), and increases SCFA levels, highlighting its potential as a treatment following high-dose radiation.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of Qigui-Yishen decoction in delaying renal fibrosis in mice by regulating thrombin regulatory protein (Thrombomodulin, TM) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) based on network pharmacology.

Methods: The active ingredients of Qigui Yishen decoction and their target molecules associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) were retrieved from websites and databases, sorted out, and screened, and the possible targets of Qigui Yishen decoction for reducing CKD renal fibrosis were predicted and analyzed. Forty Institute of Cancer research (ICR) rats were used to establish a unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) model, and divided into several groups: sham operation group, model group, high concentration decoction group (1 g/mL), low concentration decoction group (0.

The present study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of Yishen Jiangzhuo decoction (YSJZD) in a mouse model of cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). The mice were divided into the NC, cisplatin and cisplatin + YSJZD groups. A concentration-dependent effect of YSJZD on cisplatin-induced AKI was observed and the optimal concentration for intervention was calculated.
