Article Abstract

The influences of fleroxacin (FLRX) on the fluorescence of bovine serum albumin(BSA), zinc(II) on that of bovine serum albumin, and zinc(II) on the of fleroxacin and bovine serum albumin were studied under imitated the physiological condition. It was shown that both fleroxacin and zinc(II) have a powerful ability to quench the BSA fluorescence via a nonradiative energy transfer mechanism. But the fluorescence quenching action of fleroxacin on BSA was much stronger in the presence of zinc (II). The fluorescence quenching data were analyzed according to Stern-Volmer equation and double-reciprocal equation, and the binding constant(K) and the binding sites(n) were obtained. In the system of binary complex of FLRX and BSA, K = 5.44 x 10(4) and n = 1.05, while in the system of binary complex of zinc(II) and BSA, K = 2.19 x 10(9) and n = 2.

Preparation of bovine serum albumin nanospheres desolvation: a study of synthesis, characterization, and aging.

January 2025

School of Sustainable Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK 73019, USA.

Serum albumin has myriad uses in biotechnology, but its value as a nanocarrier or nanoplatform for therapeutics is becoming increasingly important, notably with albumin-bound chemotherapeutics. Another emerging field is the fabrication of biopolymeric nanoparticles using albumin as a building block to achieve highly-tunable nonimmunogenic capsules or scaffolds that may be cheaply and reliably produced. The aim of this study was to characterize and optimize the desolvation process used for fabrication of albumin nanoparticles under ambient conditions, studying both glutaraldehyde (GT) and glucose (GLU) as crosslinking agents and the effect of various synthesis conditions including pH, electrolyte concentration, and rate of desolvation on particle size and stability.

In marine environmental monitoring, due to the presence of a large number of interfering proteins and bacteria in seawater, it is of great significance to construct an efficient sensing interface with antifouling and antibacterial functions to avoid the aforementioned interferences. On this basis, the zwitterionic hydrogel based on sulfobetaine methacrylate (SBMA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was developed as an antifouling and antibacterial coating. The combination of hydration of zwitterions and hydrophilicity of hydrogels endows BSA@PSBMA with good antiadsorption ability, which effectively hinders the adhesion of proteins and bacteria, thereby improving the detection sensitivity of the biosensor.

For the first time asymmetric and symmetric carboxytriazoleimidazolium derivatives with different structures were synthesized. The critical micellization concentration (CMC) value was estimated using a pyrene fluorescent probe and the solubility of Orange OT. The complexation ability of carboxytriazoleimidazolium derivatives toward bovine serum albumin (BSA) has been investigated by various physico-chemical methods: fluorescence spectroscopy, electrophoretic light scattering and circular dichroism.

Extracellular Matrix-Inspired Dendrimer Nanogels Encapsulating Cyclophosphamide for Systemic Sclerosis Treatment.

Cyclophosphamide has a certain therapeutic effect on treating systemic sclerosis (SSc), while difficulties exist in controlling severe systematic side effects and enhancing targeting capacity. Here, inspired from the natural extracellular matrix composition, we propose a cyclophosphamide-encapsulated nanogel based on dendritic polymers polyamidoamine (PAMAM) for SSc treatment. We combine bovine serum albumin and generation 5 (G5) PAMAM dendrimers with polyphenol modification to obtain nanogels featured with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Although the glycosylation of viral proteins plays a critical role in the process of viral invasion into host cells, studies on the glycosylation of monkeypox virus (MPXV) structural proteins have not yet been reported. To investigate the importance of MPXV protein glycosylation, poly Ser-Arg (poly SR) materials capable of simultaneously enriching both -glycopeptides and -glycopeptides were synthesized by surface-initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (SI-RAFT) polymerization. The poly SR materials were evaluated using the digest mixture of standard proteins containing bovine fetuin and bovine serum albumin, and the digest of complex biological samples including bovine sperm tail lysate, mouse sperm tail lysate, mouse brain lysate, and human serum.
