Neurological complications of varicella zoster virus (VZV) reactivation have rarely been described in dialysis patients. We report a case of a continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patient who developed herpes zoster encephalitis. The patient was treated with acyclovir and steroids and had a slow but complete return to her prior cognitive status. The available literature is reviewed and the differential diagnosis with acyclovir toxicity is discussed.

Department of Neurology, Nara Medical University, Nara, Japan.
Purpose: The etiology of encephalitis is unknown in 40%-50% of cases, so a comprehensive examination of encephalitis would be significant and meaningful. The short-term outcomes in appropriately managed patients are also unknown. Short-term clinical outcomes following onset can provide clinicians with clues regarding the clinical course in the immediate future.

Introduction: Central nervous system (CNS) infections represent some of the most critical pediatric health challenges, characterized by high mortality rates and a notable risk of long-term complications. Despite their significance, standardized guidelines for endocrinological follow-up of CNS infection survivors are lacking, leading to reliance on the expertise of individual centers and clinicians.
Materials And Methods: Prospective monocentric observational study conducted at the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli in Rome, Italy.
Background: Prostatic malignancy with paraneoplastic subacute encephalitis -A rare syndrome METHOD: We present a case of 76 year old male without any previous comorbidity and addiction who manifested a rapid neuropsychiatric decline with a frontotemporal syndrome over a period of 6 months. He was anemic and cerebrospinal fluid study showed 10 cells with lymphocytic predominance. The extensive workup of csf for infection, malignancy revealed nothing.

Background: This study examines an exceptional case of CADASIL (Cerebral Autosomal Dominant Arteriopathy with Subcortical Infarcts and Leukoencephalopathy), a hereditary cerebrovascular disease caused by a mutation in the notch3 gene. In contrast to typical cases manifesting before the age of 50 with migraines, this report highlights an atypical presentation in a 70-year-old woman with no history of migraines nor cognitive impairment.
Method: The patient, with a history of type 2 diabetes, hypothyroidism, and dyslipidemia, was initially treated for cognitive impairment and behavioral changes under suspicion of autoimmune encephalitis.

Background: Rapidly progressive dementia (RPD) is variably defined across published cohorts. A standardized definition is needed to support multicenter studies required to inform the causes of RPD and optimize recognition and management of treatment-responsive causes. An optimal definition will capture the broad spectrum of causes of RPD, adequately differentiate patients with rapid and typically progressive presentations of neurodegenerative disease, and be reliably implemented across healthcare settings and centers.
