Background: Self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) is the main tool to achieve carbohydrate metabolism targets in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM). Remote monitoring of SMBG in Russia appeared relatively recently and needs to be evaluated for effectiveness.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of remote monitoring of SMBG on carbohydrate metabolism and quality of life in patients with type 1 DM in order to form new therapeutic approaches.

The cascade reaction of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), cell-free DNA (cfDNA), and reactive oxygen species (ROS), drives the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Herein, we construct polyethylenimide (PEI)-L/D-tartaric acid (L/D-TA) complexes templated mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles (MON) (PEI-L/D-TA@MON) by mimicking biosilicification under ambient conditions within seconds. The chiral nanomedicines include four functional moieties, wherein PEI electrostatically attracts cfDNA, tetrathulfide bonds reductively react with ROS, silanol groups adsorb LPS, and L/D-TA enables chiral recognition and inflammatory localization.

Tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) medicinal products (MPs) show promise for treating solid tumors, especially metastatic melanoma, in the clinical trial setting. Through these studies, TIL developers have gained an immunological perspective into the mechanism of action (MoA) and infusion product characteristics that influence clinical response. However, to reach marketing authorization for any of the TIL MPs, it will be beneficial to gain a pharmaceutical (process) development perspective as well, from which control of the TIL MPs manufacturing process can be demonstrated and a suitable control strategy can be developed.

Ultrasound molecular imaging is an innovative imaging modality that combines ultrasound with molecular probes to observe live biological processes at the cellular and molecular levels. C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) is a specific target in liver tumors and plays a crucial role in promoting tumor growth, invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis. This study pioneered the use of CXCR4-targeted ultrasound molecular imaging for visualized antitumor therapy and investigated the potential of CXCR4-targeted microbubbles (MBs) in sensitizing liver tumor treatment.

What do Professionals Think of Specific Care Recommendations for Vascular Cognitive Impairment? A Delphi Study With Health Care Professionals.

J Am Med Dir Assoc

March 2025

Amsterdam UMC, Location VUmc, Medicine for Older People, Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Amsterdam Public Health, Aging & Later Life, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Objectives: Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) is an umbrella term covering all cognitive impairment from mild cognitive deficits to dementia due to vascular etiologies. VCI is highly prevalent within dementia and stroke care pathways, but specific recommendations for care for people with VCI are lacking. Therefore, we formulated specific recommendations for care for people with VCI and tested these in a panel of health care professionals.
