Celiac plexus block is a good alternative of pain treatment in upper abdominal pain. Neurolysis of the celiac plexus by the percutaneous posterior route used CT guidance in 8 patients. Pain relief was obtained in 5 of 7 patients (70 per cent); no complication occurred.

The superior hypogastric plexus (SHP) contains afferent nociceptive fibers from the pelvic structures, thus the SHP block is employed in the chronic pelvic pain (CPP) treatment in patients who do not respond to conservative treatments. A 60-year-old female patient, who did not respond to conservative treatment, underwent SHP neurolytic block after a successful diagnostic block. An excessive oblique angle approach was applied due to physical restrictions, the needle passed through the intervertebral disc resulting in the contralateral side SHP block, and the procedure was also repeated to the other side SHP.

Background: For surgical procedures of the upper limbs, ultrasound-guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block (SCBPB) represents a safe substitute for general anesthesia. The present study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of incorporating 1μg/kg dexmedetomidine (DEX) into 20 ml bupivacaine, as opposed to using 20 ml and 30 ml bupivacaine without additives, in SCBPB.
