Purpose: Vision recovery after corneal graft is sometimes limited by the occurrence of macular edema. The aim of this prospective study of 62 keratoplasty patients was to assess the incidence of macular edema by using optical coherence tomography (OCT 3; Stratus, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, CA) and to identify factors associated with edema.
Methods: Sixty-two patients who were all operated on by the same surgeon were examined by OCT 3, 1 and 3 months after corneal graft.
Results: The incidence of macular edema after keratoplasty was 9.6%. The surgical technique (penetrating vs lamellar keratoplasty) had no influence on the occurrence of edema (P > 0.05), but combined surgery significantly increased the risk of developing an edema (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Macular edema after keratoplasty seemed to be less frequent than expected (9.6%) and associated mainly with combined surgery.

Emory Eye Center, Emory University, Atlanta, GA, USA.
Purpose: To report a case of persistent bilateral sclerouveitis following bilateral bimatoprost implantation (Durysta) that required implant removal and oral steroid course.
Observation: A 75-year-old Caucasian male with no prior ocular inflammation experienced bilateral sclerouveitis post bilateral bimatoprost implantation. Despite implant removal from both eyes, the ocular inflammation persisted, showing cystoid macular edema in both eyes and exudative retinal detachment in the right.

Purpose: To evaluate the intermediate-term visual and safety outcomes of the small-incision second-generation implantable miniature telescope (SING IMT) in patients with late-stage age-related macular degeneration (AMD) at 6 months post-surgery.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Methods: Medical records of patients implanted with the SING IMT at two sites in Italy were reviewed.
Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of a modified suprachoroidal silicone tube (SST) shunt in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and pseudo-exfoliative glaucoma (PXG) in this experimental study.
Methods: In this single-center, retrospective longitudinal data analysis 66 eyes of 59 patients having POAG and PXG were included and treated with modified SST shunt in combination with cataract or as a stand-alone procedure. Pre- and postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), C/D ratio and ocular adverse events (AEs) were assessed in all participants.

Department of Ophthalmology, University of Düsseldorf, Germany.
Purpose: To evaluate outcome and incidence of ocular hypertension after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and DMEK combined with cataract surgery (triple DMEK) after Nd:YAG laser iridotomy (IO) and surgical iridectomy (IE).
Methods: This is a single-center, retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent DMEK or triple DMEK surgery at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Düsseldorf, Germany, from January 2018 to June 2020 and had received either a prophylactic preoperative IO or an intraoperative IE. Patient demographic data; best corrected visual acuity; central corneal thickness; intraocular pressure (IOP); endothelial cell density; and complications such as occurrence of early postoperative IOP elevation, macular edema, rebubbling rate, and incidence of glaucoma were analyzed.

A 10-year-old boy was brought to the outpatient department with complaints of diminished vision for two years. On examination, the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in oculus dexter (OD) was 20/40 and in oculus sinister (OS) was 20/80. The patient was dilated for routine fundoscopy, which revealed grade IV hypertensive retinopathy changes in both eyes, with a macular fan in the left eye.
