Twenty-six female who presented with nipple discharge between August 1989 and September 1991 underwent mammary ductography (contrast mammography) using water soluble contrast media. The ages ranged from 29 to 75 with a mean of 41.7 years. Two patient had bilateral duct injections giving a total of 28 ductograms. The examination was simple and well tolerated by patients. The underlying causes of nipple discharge were clearly demonstrated. There were five cases of papilloma, one hematoma, one intraduct carcinoma, 11 duct ectasia, six fibrocystic disease of which four were normal. Ductography was found to be useful in the preoperative evaluation of patients with nipple discharge.

Annual review of false-negative (FN) mammograms is a mandatory and critical component of the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) annual mammography audit. FN review can help hone reading skills and improve the ability to detect cancers at mammography. Subtle architectural distortion, asymmetries (seen only on one view), small lesions, lesions with probably benign appearance (circumscribed regular borders), isolated microcalcifications, and skin thickening are the most common mammographic findings when the malignancy is visible at retrospective review of FN mammograms.

Giant cell tumor of soft tissue (GCT-ST) is an extremely rare phenomenon in the breast. Herein, a case involving a 75-year-old female with a painless lump and bloody discharge from the nipple of her left breast is reported. A diagnosis of malignant tumor was arrived at by observing the location of the tumor, interior echo, margins, vascular distribution, hardness, and microvascular density on preoperative multimodal ultrasonography.
