A total of one thousand and fifty (1050) young children from Mansoura Pediatric Hospital, July 2005 to July 2006 were examined for cryptosporidiosis. Detailed history was taken from each participant, stool examination by direct smear, Formalin-ether sedimentation, Sheather's floatation, modified Ziehl-Nel-seen (MZN) stain, Cryptospordium oocysts count, coproantigen detection by ELISA. Other infections were excluded. Out of 1050 children examined, cryptosporidial oocysts were detected in 90 cases by modified Zeihl Nelseen (MZN) stain, and copro-antigen ELISA added another 10 cases. There was a significant difference between age group (1-2 years), rural locality, nutrition status, and diarrhea regarding Cryptosporidium infection. There was highly significant difference in malnourished children regarding Cryptosporidium oocysts and ELISA-OD. There is a significant positive correlation between oocysts count, ELISA-OD and malnutrition. Only diarrhea had a highly significant difference in relation to other symptoms in both mean oocysts count and ELISA-OD. There was highly significant positive correlation between symptoms, oocysts count and ELISA-OD.

New formyl indole derivatives based on thiobarbituric acid were designed for targeting parasitological applications. The new compounds (5-((1H-indol-3-yl)methylene)-2-thioxodihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)-dione (3a), and 5-((1-benzyl-1H-indol-3-yl)methylene)-2-thioxodihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)-dione (3b) were synthesized as thioxodihydropyrimidine derivatives via aldol condensation reaction. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed based on their spectral data via FT-IR, H and C NMR spectral characterization.

Coccidiosis is a protozoan disease that causes diarrhea in cattle. This study examines the impact of treating pregnant cows at dry-off with melatonin on postpartum coccidia excretion in dams and their calves. The study population comprised 106 primiparous lactating dairy cows: 53 controls and 53 receiving melatonin on days 220-226 of gestation, plus 99 calves: 52 born from control and 47 from treated dams.

The invasion of Eimeria causes damage to the intestinal barrier, nutrient leakage, and microbial imbalance in poultry. We aimed to investigate the effects of Eimeria infection on growth performance, intestinal integrity, and cecal microbial diversity and composition of yellow broilers. A total of 180 male yellow broilers were randomly divided into an unchallenged control and an Eimeria challenge treatment group within 18 floor pens (10 chicks/pen, 9 replicate pens/group).

Background: Nanotechnology has the potential to reduce drug dosage while increasing efficacy; thus, the current work intends to synthesize diclazuril nanoemulsion and assess its performance against experimental coccidiosis in broilers.
Methods: Diclazuril nanoemulsion (DZN) was formulated and characterized by zeta seizer and zeta potential. The formulated DZN was evaluated in vivo against Eimeria tenella infected chicks.

This study assessed the prevalence and risk factors associated with gastrointestinal parasite infection in goats in Ayacucho, Peru. Fecal samples were collected from a total of 254 goats from four districts of Ayacucho: Ocaña (89), Colca (76), Pacaicasa (64), and Luricocha (25) during the dry season; recording the location, sex, and age of the animals. The fecal samples were analyzed using the flotation technique in salt and sugar solution, and modified McMaster egg counting techniques for eggs/oocysts (epg/opg) of gastrointestinal parasites.
