Chromosome aberrations and autoimmunity: Immune-mediated diseases associated with 18p deletion and other chromosomal aberrations.

Autoimmun Rev

January 2025

Division of Rheumatology, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), São Paulo, Brazil; Fleury Medicine and Health, Fleury Group, São Paulo, SP, Brazil. Electronic address:

Recent advances in genomic methodologies have significantly enhanced our understanding of immune-mediated rheumatic diseases. Specific structural variants (SVs), such as substantial DNA deletions or insertions, including chromosomal aberrations, have been implicated in diseases of immune dysregulation. Regrettably, SVs are frequently overlooked in next-generation sequencing (NGS) targeted-gene panels, whole exome sequencing (WES) and whole genome sequencing (WGS).

Background: Cancer researchers frequently consider the use of single-arm and randomized controlled clinical trial designs that leverage external data. The literature has reported extensively on how the use of external data can introduce bias through a variety of distortion mechanisms. In this article, we focus on a distortion mechanism that is often overlooked: informative censoring.

Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) are at the forefront of computational neuroscience, emulating the nuanced dynamics of biological systems. In the realm of SNN training methods, the conversion from ANNs to SNNs has generated significant interest due to its potential for creating energy-efficient and biologically plausible models. However, existing conversion methods often require long time-steps to ensure that the converted SNNs achieve performance comparable to the original ANNs.
