The detection of cardiac phase in ultrasound videos, identifying end-systolic (ES) and end-diastolic (ED) frames, is a critical step in assessing cardiac function, monitoring structural changes, and diagnosing congenital heart disease. Current popular methods use recurrent neu ral networks to track dependencies over long sequences for cardiac phase detection, but often overlook the short-term motion of cardiac valves that sonographers rely on. In this paper, we propose a novel optical flow-enhanced Mamba U-net framework, designed to utilize both short-term motion and long-term dependencies to detect the cardiac phase in ultrasound videos.

Early diagnosis of muscle wasting in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury requiring continuous kidney replacement therapy (AKI-CKRT) may improve outcomes timely rehabilitation and nutrition. Muscle ultrasound (MUS) has recently gained traction for assessing muscle atrophy in the intensive care unit (ICU) but requires training to achieve reproducibility. We evaluated the inter-rater reliability of MUS in patients with AKI-CKRT performed by multidisciplinary raters including nephrologists.

Objective: To identify specific tendon morphologies on ultrasonography of the Achilles tendon (AT) that later develop time-loss injury.
Design: Blinded post hoc analysis of a 2-year prospective, observational study of 944 AT sonographic videos to identify morphologic characteristics of diagnosed Achilles tendinopathies associated with future time-loss injury. The second year was used to validate the findings from the first year.
