: This study aims to retrospectively detect associations with postoperative complications in spinal surgeries during the hospitalization period using standardized, single-center data to validate a method for complication detection and discuss the potential future use of generated data. : Data were generated in 2006-2019 from a standardized, weekly complications conference reviewing all neurosurgical operations at the University Hospital Luebeck. Paper-based data were recorded in a standardized manner during the conference and transferred with a time delay of one week into a proprietary complication register.

Over the past four years, Ga-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has been established at a tertiary cancer care facility in Jordan. This retrospective study aims to explore tracer uptake metrics across various epithelial neoplasms, identify diagnostic pitfalls associated with Ga-FAPI PET/CT, and evaluate the influence of Ga-FAPI PET/CT staging results on changes in therapeutic intent compared to gold standard molecular imaging modalities. A total of 48 patients with biopsy-confirmed solid tumors underwent 77 Ga-FAPI PET/CT examinations for molecular imaging assessment, encompassing neoplasms originating from the gastrointestinal tract, head and neck, hepatobiliary system, pancreas, breast, and lung.

A new 3D full-body scanner analyzing the sagittal and coronal balance of the adult spine: a preliminary prospective observational study.

Acta Neurochir (Wien)

January 2025

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Seoul National University College of Medicine, SMG-SNU Boramae Medical Center, 20 Boramae-Ro 5-Gil, Dongjak-Gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Background: The degenerative spondylosis can cause the difficulty in maintaining sagittal and coronal alignment of spine, and X-ray parameters are the gold standard to analyze the malalignment. This study aimed to develop a new 3D full body scanner to analyze the spinal balance and compare it to X-ray parameters.

Methods: Ninety-seven adult participants who suffer degenerative spondylosis underwent 3D full body scanning, whole spine X-rays, clinical questionnaires and body composition analyses.

Background: Early diagnosis of degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) is often challenging due to subtle, non-specific symptoms, limited disease awareness and a lack of definitive diagnostic criteria. As primary care physicians are typically the first to encounter patients with early DCM, equipping them with effective screening tools is crucial for reducing diagnostic delays and improving patient outcomes. This systematic review evaluates the efficacy of quantitative screening methods for DCM that can be implemented in primary care settings.

Objective: Cervical degeneration involves many pathophysiological changes. Vertebral bone loss, sclerotic hyperplasia of the vertebral body and intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) are most common degenerative factors. However, whether there is a correlation between changes in vertebral bone mass and IDD remains unclear.
