Mice mated with H-2 incompatible males were shown to have an increased frequency of specific allocluster-forming spleen cells to paternal strain erythrocytes. The time course of the response was similar to that expected following a skin allograft. The graft-versus-host responsiveness of the maternal lymphocytes was generally elevated in the post-partum period in matings with males incompatible at either the H2 locus or non-H2 loci. The implications of these responses with respect to their different lymphocyte mediators and possible interactions are discussed with the view that a B-cell mediated immune response to paternal antigens may be contributory to foetal survival.

Background: DNA methylation plays a crucial role in mammalian development. While methylome changes acquired in the parental genomes are believed to be erased by epigenetic reprogramming, accumulating evidence suggests that methylome changes in sperm caused by environmental factors are involved in the disease phenotypes of the offspring. These findings imply that acquired sperm methylome changes are transferred to the embryo after epigenetic reprogramming.

Background: Paternal preconception alcohol exposure affects fetal development; however, it is largely unknown about the influences on offspring vasculature and mechanisms.
Methods: Offspring born form paternal rats treated with alcohol or water before pregnant was raised until 3 months of age. Vessel tone of mesenteric arteries was detected using myograph system; whole-cell calcium channel current in smooth muscle cells was tested using patch-clamp; molecule expressions were detected with real-time PCR, western blotting, and Dihydroethidium (DHE); DNA methylations were determined using targeted bisulfate sequencing assay.

Significant differences in life-history traits between the southern population (S) and northern (N) population of the cabbage beetle make it an excellent model for studying inheritance in this insect. In the present study, we observed the life-history traits of pure strains, F, reciprocal backcross and reciprocal F progeny under a photoperiod of L:D 15:9 h at 22 °C. The S population had shorter larval development time, longer pupal time, higher body weight, growth rate and weight loss compared with the N population.

The tiny parasitoid wasp inhabits the Mojave Desert of the southwest United States. Populations of this tiny insect variably host up to two different sex-distorting genetic elements: (1) the endosymbiotic bacterium which induces the parthenogenetic reproduction of females, and (2) a B-chromosome, "Paternal Sex Ratio" (PSR), which converts would-be female offspring to PSR-transmitting males. We report here the genome of a -infected isofemale colony KSX58.
